Quote: Learning

“Always try to associate yourself with and learn as much as you can from those who know more than you do, who do better than you, who see more clearly than you.”

    1. If anyone still cares, finally I'm certain that I'm a sociopath. Have a nice day! :3

    2. Of course we care, Mee - this is a very proud moment for all of us. Our little puppy, all grown up and ready to take on the empaths ...

  3. Finally, a post worth reading, and I'm most agreeable to.

Finding people one can learn from is not an easy task.

I prefer to be by myself.I like a good mind game, but I will only engage if I think it might lead me to a secret, repressed place within myself.

The fact is, I find it childs' play to engage others, but quite difficult 'to engage' myself with others. It's almost like my 'people pool' is very very small.

Thats why todays post rings true for me.

  5. I think I figured out a simple way to see your level of empathy from normal, low to none.

You have to have a relationship with a person, a family or friend. You can't hate the person, obviously. The person can't have betrayed you, obviously.

When there comes a time in the relationship that the person is upset and cries, what do you feel?

If you are upset, too, you are normal.

If you are slightly upset, you have low empathy

If you feel nothing, you have no empathy.

Mal Narcs will stop abuse when the person cries.
Sociopaths will have no stopping mechanism, showing there is no reaction to the person's distress. This is no empathy imo

    1. Why is it obvious that you can't have betrayed them? Or they you? Do empathetic people not consistantly let down or betray their lovers out of selfishness and later ask for forgiveness? Why do they make so many movies about it, if not?

      Delete
    2. That has nothing at all to do with the point, Kany.

      Delete
    3. Monica, please don't tell me the points I'm allowed to make.

    4. You can make whatever point you want, but if you were talking about my post, you missed the whole point.

      Delete
    5. So how do you heal a PD?

And perhaps if your trying to find a method you should use a scientific approach and not make ignorant assumptions like not having betrayal in your history.

And its a simple, pointless, point anyways. Why did you even type it? I didn't miss the point, I couldn't if I tried.

      Delete
    6. Kany, do you have the humility to ask what the point was?

      Delete
    7. I don't find this true. When someone cries because of me I do get a 'ding' in my chest like "Hey, something's happening. :)" Does that make me normal? I don't think so.

      Delete
    8. Well, what do you mean by "Ding"?

    9. I am talking about empathy. Empathy is an important subject, especially if one has children( or wants to have them) as the parent must be able to pick up what the child is feeling, or it will be very bad for the child.

My post is about empathy, for those who missed it.

      Delete
    10. Kany you are dumb. When someone betrays you, it's rare to have trust for them, use for them, or a desire to be empathic. Monica is trying to start small with feeling empathy. Let her finish.

      Delete
    11. OK, Monica. What is your point? Empathy what? Is important, or exists, or doesn't exist?

      Delete
    12. Someone you are in a relationship with will betray you in some way. People cannot help it. Its how we deal with those betrayals that maintains our relationships.

      Delete
    13. You're off on a another tangent, Kans. Monica is talking about having empathy for a person that is as innocent as a child. Someone who has a clean slate. She is starting from there.

Monica, I think that before one has empathy for a person, the first thing is that one must notice them. Their attention must be on the other.

      Delete
    14. No she isn't. She's defining who has empathy, and what levels in such base terms its lost any meaning. Then she talked about application of that base empathy... like a baby. Let her tell me her point. She still believes she has one.

Seriously, Monica... what are you getting at?

      Delete
    15. I am talking about two separate things which are related, and you are connecting them in a very weak fashion. You are mixing up the compartments. You need a visual. You need a diagram or something. It's over your head, Kany, and frankly I think you are getting off on it lol. You are a waste of my serious heart time.

  6. And how do we determine if someone is infallible in these
areas? We don't. Perhaps, Eisenhower was an intellectual
and in that case these words would ring true but most did
    not see Eisenhower"s core personality.

I think his words was for that time period, only.

  13. This is not a quote about learning, it is about submission to others. "Chose an authority figure to follow" is what it really says

    1. I think it's a quote abour learning but no, associating with someone and learning from someone does not mean they are an authority to follow. they are to b watched, and you can take a few pearls of wisdom here and there. That's it. You need to "follow" many different people because no one person can know everything. And at some point you may learn the applications of one person's knowledge or clarity doesn't go with who you are.

I don't see there is submission in following.
