Sociopath quote: the other side of the coin

Strangers can pretty much go right into any old persons' house without any permission and take them and no one really cares, which is probably terrifying if you are an old person who can barely walk. And yet probably great if you need an old person who can barely walk.

Cruelty is cruelty no matter how you put it. Any normal conscious being animal or human would not want a compromised existence or an existence compromised by a deliberate act of cruelty.

  2. wait untill you get old, and maybe you can tell us how great it was to be taken and barely walk.

  4. At least sociopaths are capable of accepting humans animality, instead of repressing it. You people really believe yourselves to be above other "creatures" that you've evolved into such civilized beings. It's a pretty interesting and supurfluos facade you put on.

Is that why the afghan civilians were blown up for fun and their body parts collected as trophies by the barely adult US soldiers? Maybe they might have avoided being selected as "victims" if they had invested more of their lives in being fully expressed animalistic humans instead of assuming the US soldiers were there to protect their "facade of having evolved above other creatures to become civilised beings".

Also, why did they they repress their PTSS inspite having been through even more wars and borderline survival scenarios than the 22year old soldier who served in both Irag and Afghanistan?

Coz they didn't have Youtube or expert Military shrinks from New York and spent way too much time just to rebuild their repressed "normal" lives in a barren deserted piece of rock?

  10. Oh, my. How cute. Let me put the kettle on and we'll talk about your internet-synthesized views on morality. Come back when you have more to say than "People Sit on Chairs".

  11. Does saying something while squatting on few pieces of bamboo over small running stream not qualify? Or should everybody here have a flush controlled, heated design from MIT before they say anything?

Sorry but thats my only "chair" here. Whats yours?

  12. Adult males aren't simply programmed to be aggressive because of violent video games and movies but by society as a whole. This hyper masculinity is far more common in U.S culture than you would ever realize.

Just watch the video "Tough Guise" and you'll get why most males in this country are so violent, honestly it has nothing to do with be sociopathic or not. Men in this society are taught to be "tough", "strong" and "dominant".

All of us have been subject to this social conditioning since birth. Case in point, "Is it a girl or a boy? O, what a beautiful baby boy you have, with such husky biceps!...O John don't play with dolls son, thats for little girls...now stop your crying and man up".

The massive repression of male's emotional responses have lead to these types of violent crimes, not sociopaths. These "repressed" men still feel and do such things to fulfill societies ideal, the strong fearless masculine protector, which obviously gets taken too far.

Sociopaths on the other hand usually commit these acts to feel, because we only know how to establish "feeling" in extreme situations. We can't generate it in any other way.

That having too much high civilization in contrast to living with unreliable water supply -leads to boredom and a need for entertainment or "thrill" in whatever form?

Boredom is as boredom does. Anyone can be bored anywhere, at any time. I do imagine that it must really be boring to sit around in a desert, always hurrying up to wait, so to speak. Otherwise, a thrill is a thrill, irrespective of location.

Ah, the regrettable Ms. Stout. The last paragraph from the article indicates one of her fundamental misapprehensions about a subject she has declared herself an expert in:

“As a tiny example, had Skip the American been born into a strongly Buddhist culture, or Shinto, would he have killed all those frogs? Perhaps, or perhaps not. His brain would have been the same, but all the people around him would have maintained that respect for life was necessary. Everyone in his world would have been of the same mind, including his wealthy parents, his teachers, his playmates, and maybe even the celebrities he saw on television. Skip would still have been Skip. He would have felt no honor for the frogs, no guilt if he murdered them, no repugnance, but he might have refrained from doing so because his culture had unanimously taught him a lesson, something on the order of proper table manners, about how to fit in預 lesson that his perfectly good intellect had mastered.”

Why would culture’s lessons matter to Skip? The asocial person, like myself for instance, simply does not take his cues… about anything truly important to him… from society. He certainly wouldn't let society's mores stop him from having fun, however he defines that. I imagine that would be true for the majority of asocials, no matter what culture they hail from.

  21. Gaggles, what does my shower count have to do with anything? Are you saying that because the soldiers were in an arid, uncomfortable and alien environment, they were compelled to alleviate their boredom by killing some stray Afghani civilians? If so, then I don't buy it. Self control may be hard sometimes, but it isn’t impossible. Then again, I have never had an uncontrollable impulse to kill, so who's to say?

Bottom line: they were bored. They killed because they could. They were arrogant, which lead to complete carelessness, which lead to them being caught.

    ReplyDelete
  22. It's difficult to be sure, but I think the question GagReflex is asking is about the effects of culture on sociopath-types.

    ReplyDelete
  23. Oh, Martha. When will you learn? Have you read her book in full, Daniel? It's really quite riddled with this sort of nonsense.

"Of course, I am implying that our own culture would teach a child like Skip that he could torture small animals and still be passably disguised among us, and regretfully, I think this reflects a fair assessment of our current plight."

I love this "OH GAWD, SOCIAL DECAY" Armageddon bullshit. I think I can understand young Skip's real problem, though. Had my parents given me such a terrible name (and one so ripe for offensive nicknames), I'd probably kill frogs, too. "Who's skipping now?" I'd say with glee.

    ReplyDelete
  24. Anon 8:53 I totally disagree. The males in society today are so feminine I could hardly call them men.

    ReplyDelete
  25. You could be right Aerianne. It's hard for me to get inside a question like that because I am emotionally disconnected from society et al. I just can't imagine myself being so thoroughly effected by my social environment that I would feel compelled to do anything I didn't really want to do, let alone kill.

    ReplyDelete
  26. Maybe Skip's parents should have named him "Sue". You'd have to know the Johnny Cash song to see that was a real lame attempt at humor. (Sorry)

    ReplyDelete
  27. @Pomo

"Who's skipping now?" I'd say with glee.

This line made me literally LOL.

Yeah, I read her book. It's sensationalist, fear mongering nonsense. Although I will admit, I liked her definition of conscience. Mostly because I couldn't find too many others that made sense to me.

    ReplyDelete
  28. I haven't read the book and won't bother. I trust the experts here.
I just was wondering if that's the type question that GagReflex might have been trying to get around to.

    ReplyDelete
  29. Glad u got my english sorted out yourself, D-Bird.

I don't think it was arid, uncomfortable and alien environment or a lack of showers (lol) per se that caused the incident.

There r some descriptions that could better explain other possible causes as well in Ms M.Stouts article.

    ReplyDelete
  30. @GagReflux:

Super. What's your point? Or are you just in question mode? Are you trying to make sense out of this 'senseless tragedy'?

  34. I can't speak for all sociopaths out there, but I have a sadistic nature. Like any craving, deny yourself for too long and the consumption will be greater than the initial pull. Suppressing cruelty when appropriate and releasing it at a later time is more healthy for me than simply ignoring it. It never goes away. I'm not talking about physical violence/serial killer shenanigans, just, Being a Dick and enjoying it, and taking pleasure in people's suffering.

  36. Jacques Derrida, as a matter of fact. I thought Daniel would enjoy the shout-out. :D

    ReplyDelete
  37. Very articulate?

"Bottom line: they were bored. They killed because they could. They were arrogant, which lead to complete carelessness, which lead to them being caught"

    I like this one though;

"From recorded observations, we do know that sociopaths, by various names, have existed in all kinds of societies, worldwide and throughout history. As an illustration, psychiatric anthropologist Jane M. Murphy describes the Inuit concept of kunlangeta, which refers to a person whose "mind knows what to do but does not do it."

Murphy writes that in northwest Alaska, kunlangeta "might be applied to a man who, for example, repeatedly lies and cheats and steals things and does not go hunting, and, when the other men are out of the village, takes sexual advantage of many women." The Inuits tacitly assume that kunlangeta is irremediable. And so, according to Murphy, the traditional Inuit approach to such a man was to insist that he go hunting, and then, in the absence of witnesses, push him off the edge of the ice."

Why are u only so concerned with my "getting to a point soon". Is time running out? The way things are going, I think U guys need to be understood (read studied, examined, observed) ever more carefully.

Btw, does the name mispelling (humour?), people lables or caricatures make u guys more it more fun or comfortable to act out your impulses?

    ReplyDelete
  38. Could the kunlangeta not just be a human manifestation of the gamma male? Or even just a lazy person? Waiting for the dangerous males to leave and then stealing their shit and fucking their women seems like a very efficient strategy.

I'm concerned with you getting to your point because you're of the breed we get here once a week, at least. You ramble on vaguely about how we're animals, you make some superficially insightful comment, and then you leave. I'm just trying to cut to the important parts so you can be on your way. Maybe I'll even get lucky and you'll be fun.

If you'd really like to "understand" the people here, ask actual questions.

Mucking about with names is just a fun way to prod people. It used to make Jesse ever so ruffled.

    ReplyDelete
  39. Yep. You are so right! No person with a conscience would ever commit an act of cruelty, let alone be unrepentant! I mean, those terrorists that are killing innocent bystanders with suicide bombs and those assassins openly and proudly killing abortion doctors, they MUST be sociopaths.

Oh, wait a second, I thought sociopaths were supposed to be a selfish, self-preserving lot... Damn you, logic!

But fear not, you are infallible, because you have empathy, and no one with empathy ever lacks it when convenient. Our very own righteous Watchman, piercing our darkness with divine illumination, showing us as the unthinkable monsters that we truly are.

    Quis custodiet ipsos custodes?

  41. There's a suggestion to wrap this one up for u guys looking for a closing point for this thread.

push one fun loving socio off the icy cliff safe a whole bunch of helpless old folks to live another boring day.

    ReplyDelete
  42. Ah, so we learned that kind of mind-set from you.

    ReplyDelete
  43. Dunno, but for sure u have invested a lot more research and skills into "normals" than the other way around.

    ReplyDelete
  44. Well, it's sort of what we do. I guess at some point, as a matter of survival or acceptance, we found out that being blood-thirsty, callous jerks was a way to fit in and not be abandoned by the pack. You only have yourselves to blame :)

    ReplyDelete
  45. NoPath;

Don't misguide your credits. Just look at the most of the posts here. You don't need my insights or comments to describe what u are. Your victories and entertainment are gloriously celebrated here for all to see.

Terrorists? Assasins? Hmmm.. wonder if they can move around openly with their true identities or be send to a peace keeping mission?

    ReplyDelete
  46. It's easier to be cavalier and callous as opposed to being humble and accepting. In fact, that's pretty much the opposite of my natural inclinations. That doesn't mean I'm incapable of it.

You however, you are certainly not a shining example of an empath. I fancy you'd be one of those common folk cheering on the Witch Burnings at Salem with drool running down your lip at the prospect of seeing a young girl being burned alive.

To have a conscience and knowingly be hurtful, hate-mongering and pro-genocidal, well phooey, and I thought I had problems. Take a moment and look in the mirror and tell me if you like what you see.

    ReplyDelete
  47. Haven't seen common folks or "common sense" like that in quite a while. Which time period are u from NoPath?

I've looked hard, but I can't find anything I've done, vaquely close to being pro-genocidal. I can - be angry, and god knows - be hurt, but wouldn't have a clue how to monger that hate.. to support any cause to save my own life. So much for the "Prophet" tag.

    ReplyDelete
  48. NoPath;

For what its worth, don't be too caught up with labels, names and neat categories and find yourself in an analytical conundrum when the behavior doesn't suit the label.

People in real life as applied Planet wide, aren't synthesised (made up)in the comfort of your reality. A good dose of common sense can sometimes help.

    ReplyDelete
  49. So Gagbag, you are making a vague (and I do mean vague) moral stance, hmmm? Cruelty is bad, don’t be mean to old folks, push the baddies in the ice, blah, blah, blah. Like I said, passé. Next time, just come right out and say, point blank, what you mean. Don't worry. This audience can take it.

    ReplyDelete
  53. Gaggadoodle, you forget. This is the comments section of a blog. A relatively obscure blog at that. After all, just how many people at large even bother to research sociopathy, much less find this blog, much less read these comments, much less bother to leave a comment themselves? In other words, there is nothing to downgrade from within the confines of an anonymous online thread, is there?

And playing with names on here sometimes amuses me. See PoMoSo's comment above. Nothing personal. Ever.

I never asked anything from him. I have no kids and a good well paying job. Everything was so perfect and good between us. He told me he would take me ring shopping and we would settle down and have a baby together. Everything was great. We met each other families and everyone told us we were perfect for each other. Out of nowhere he surprisingly left me to be with another girl, so i met a friend who gave me this email robinsonbuckler@yahoo.com of this spell caster Robinson, so contacted him because i was so heartbroken and don't know what to do with myself but after 3 days of contacting Mr Robinson , my lover came back to me
