Guest post: Aliens

I stumbled upon this article titled: Alien Origins of Sociopathy. By the title alone I'm sure many of you can just guess the incendiary nature of the content of the article.

Just as religion has traditionally portrayed sociopaths to be SATANIC, POSSESSED BY THE DEVIL, DEMONS, SINNERS, WITCHES, WARLOCKS, and any other pejorative, now we have the newest demonization of sociopaths, the meme that sociopaths are "reptillians", or "alien predators".

My questions for anyone who might be a sociopath is, how do sociopaths want to be portrayed? If you were the cult leader, the fiction writer, or the director, how would you portray the sociopath characters? It's only fair to ask for input on this.

  2. Reality check:

Humanity was put here BY those aliens to harvest the planet as slaves before their return.

"I" was put here to police you guys. It's a boring job, so I NEED to have other things to do (sociopathy).

I do not have any other means of explanation.

  3. It's really hard to capture the esscense of psychopathy in film, if the character is too ice cold it doesn't work, at all. There is just something about psychopaths that you can't imitate, it's the slyness, if i had to choose an actor who came close to what I'd consider perfect, it would be Christian bale in american psycho, probably because Christian bale is probably a legitamate narcissist.

Actors spend their whole lives learning and practising their charisma, but when you look at the likes of Charles manson, how could you copy that? You can't it's impossible unless you are a psychopath.

  4. Preposterous question, of course, but appealing all the same.

As a non-souled human with alien origins in a royal lineage of Matrix Agents I wish to be portrayed as precisely what I am.

I can imagine wanting to be something else, something than can smuggle itself into human cells, replicate itself, and destroy - a disease of the human immune system, say.

But a witch? Oh, come on.

  5. Swarms of self replicating pure intelligence and will. No need for charisma, megalomania, fake charm or psychological voids to fill.

  6. The question for me is kind of silly, because I already have in the first book I wrote a few years back. Of course, I did it subconsciously :P I needed some "race" I could relate to, and an explanation for why they were that way. The best part was that my editor only said, "God, those guys sound like total bastards, but so and so is one charming piece of work." If only she knew!

Further on topic, if we ever did run into advanced sentient life, what do you think the chances are they would have empathy?

    ReplyDelete
  7. ditto: cliche question

If advanced means no stupidity and fear about anything, empathy might be all that's needed. Cuz it's all about feeeeellin good man!

  8. If you wan't a good example of a sociopath in film, watch Solitary Man. UKan mentioned it a while back so I watched it and it was pretty realistic.

Satan is a bad ass, but I think the god of the old testament is much more malevolent.

lets compare God and Satan of the old testament.

God- created a world for him self, created a near perfect creature called Satan than forced him to bell down to stupid monkeys.

Satan- wants to help the monkeys and knowingly sacrificing him self (he was smart enough to know) by making them rational, logical, and the knowledge of good and evil so they can see what an ass hole god is.

God- punishes them without mercy by damning them to a world of hurt and punishes all of their kids. He doesn't kill them but prefers to torment them for ever (man can not enter heaven in the old testament)!

God- rewards the person who sacrificed a goat by burning its blood. and curses the person who sacrifices plant

God- rewards a man for being crazy enough to want to kill his own kid because of a voice in his head

Man- stops believing in god because he never shows up.

God- kills everyone except an old drunk who abuses his kids.

God- Helping his slaves to commit genocide against other tribes for not being his slaves

God- selling his tribe as slaves for their lack of submission

Satan- telling god that people operate based on reward and punishment because they are rational

God- finds the most submissive person on Earth, Job and toys with him to prove a point.

Satan seems to me as a freedom fighter, for fairness, and rights against a dictatorship

And God, I love him and hate him at the same time, is someone who wants everyone to be absolutely submissive to him and gives his creations two paths, go to heaven and be his bitch for ever or burn and be tortured for ever

  10. That afterlife doesn't sound very fair...

I would want you to alliterate the differences of the two: heaven and hell, if you would please. You seem to have some honesty about you.

    ReplyDelete
  11. Anon

I neither care about heaven nor hell cuz i don't think they are real. If they were I still would not care because i would spend the rest of time hating god and loving his power regardless of where i am. Of course I am honest about this. How would you feel if 85% of the world believes in some non-existent creature who supposedly is all powerful. God is my idealized self. I love him, but I hated that I am not him.

    ReplyDelete
  12. "That afterlife doesn't sound very fair..."

I guess society wouldn't consider it fair, but yet so many people are Christians. I really don't know.

  13. Wet, God didn't create the people of this earth to rule them but to have a relationship with them more then a parent who has a child or a freindship or lover. But an all incompassing relationship.

Satan devalued his position and wanted power. When God made man a woman different then angels Satan became jealous and envios in a muderous way.

Angels were now to serve the humans that God created in His likeness. Satan resented and dispised God and now he had someone to focus all his hate and anger on, us.

God saw mans nature to want indipendance and run everything according to what they feltwas in their best intrest.

Your best intrest is not at all in Satan's plan, but your distruction.

God doesn't want to rule you, He wants you to enter into a relationship with Him. Obviously He hasn't punished you for every infraction or anyone else for that matter. You are the one who decides it's your free will to choose.

Satan doesn't need you to choose him, you only need not to look to God and he has you.

It is not God's purpose to punish but to redeem.

    ReplyDelete
  14. Oh I should tell you that God wants to share His power with you Wet, thats what He wants the relationship for and thats what Heaven is about.

  15. Religion was created to fill in the blanks and give people a sense of direction in life. There is no god and there is no satan. I don't know why you're arguing over this fictional bullshit. I don't want to here that crap around here. We get enough of it everywhere else.

tik. I don't even remember when you first came onto this site. You haven't made much of an impact since you arrived. It's like you just kind of happen to be here. Like the pavement or a wall.

    ReplyDelete
  16. Wet said "lets compare god and satan" of the old testament"

That was one of the funninest things I have read in a while. It does shine a light on human behavior. And how we battle with the infinate and finate realities. Thank God for metaphor otherwise we would be lost.

    ReplyDelete
  17. Wet, it sounds to me like you don't really have much of an opinion, although I did try to get you to share it. What you're not saying, despite your admirable honesty, is "Jesus Christ I fucking HATE Christians".

I think what you should do is get it out of your system here, others will either look at you stupidly or chime in (not that it matters which or what as there is a definite age variance) and then accept that sheep need a figure to lead them and that some leaders take the shape of religion.

Look at religion itself, can we conclude that all sheep are the same? Each of them has a flavor to choose from. Atheism on the other hand stems from lack of choice or finding NO flavor to suit you regardless the means. To each their own. ACCEPT IT, but don't let it ruin your beautiful ability.

In group bias, people claim they are for diversity yet live in gated communities or suburbs with 90% same ethnicity.

Also let's not forget that the USA is a Christian country, hence protects and promotes the religion.

I prefer reptilian, since we are cold blooded and have an unique stare. Not to mention snakes are intelligent and look good in a suit.

    ReplyDelete
  22. @TNP

You are too stupid to even understand empaths.

What makes you think you could understand advanced sentient life.

    ReplyDelete
  23. snakes are not intelligent. stimulus, response.

if what you are refering to is "snakes in suits" by dr hare, i finished reading it a few days ago. i thought it was shit. written in the terrible style of an american self-help book for retards with a short concentration span, and containing very very little interesting or useful information.

what was the topic again... oh yeah socios in films. well, i like the cold pragmatism coupled with a tinge of philosophical madness portrayed by the replicants in bladerunner. also i read a book called "black man" where the main character was a guy genetically engineered to be a sociopath. he was well portrayed; he was calculatingly smooth and charming when he needed to be and violent without hesitation or remorse.

  30. It's interesting that the topic "Alien Origins of Sociopathy" arose a God vs. Satan banter.

Tik said "and thats what Heaven is about" . . . heaven I agree is relational. True Christian thought is relational and heart centered.

Misanthrope said . . . "religion was created to fill in the blanks and give people a sense of direction in life." Yes I agree religion provides a map and is used to control the masses.

What is interesting is that many Christian mystics were probably not neuro-typical. Starting with St. Paul. (He thrived on power)

In films how would I portray a sociopath?
That would be the character who pulled the puppet strings, created laws to match their agenda and applied their visions to shape reality. And was worshipped in the process.

  34. There isn't enough care in me to justify any deep or permanent views but as it is, I think every body is a watcher. In a neurotypical world the yellow star would be pinned to anyone showing ASPD and in a here its pinned on anyone with a closed mind but with a moratorium on violence.

    My film?
A sociopath society that has its own kind of 'perfection' where empathy and trust is faked to the point of religious dogma and the less disciplined among their own are discreetly disposed.

  60. Medusa

you are right Satan, Lucifer and the serpent are separate characters in the old testament. However since there are more Christians than Jews, and the context is more society as a whole, so I used the verse from Revelation 20:2. Also it doesn't really matter what it really says cuz barely anyone has actually read and studied it.

    ReplyDelete
  61. From what little glimpses I've had, I know girls are amazing for sure. I just wish more of them could connect with it beyond the insecurities. That, I think is the source of my misogyny. I've seen too many smart and beautiful women end up just using their creative brains for manipulation and for predictably justifying it always as an absolute in some way or another. Normal men accept that like sheep and turn these women into divas. Ass-hole men see the whole predictability of it as use it to counter manipulate. The pattern goes on...

    ReplyDelete
  62. ...until everybody runs out of time and opportunities and then they realize who they really love. The end.

    ReplyDelete
  63. yeah, i guess. but life's a silly game Gag. Purity is rare, and when it appears, you gotta grab it, right? and it exists, so long as the mind can project it, you can see what your brain likes to see.

does that make sense? manipulation is an afterthought, not the origin of human attraction and connection.

    ReplyDelete
  64. Hey you sobered up.. So it did help after all ;)

    ReplyDelete
  65. Makes sense to me. Origin of human attraction is lust? and then survival, and then how to to connect the two?

    ReplyDelete
  66. i know, i fucking sobered up - not my inteitno0ion i tell ya!!!
anyway, waht did you mean be being on yiur 'high horse' ?

Knowing how and when to be an "asshole" is so genius!

It is called having boundaries, GagReflex. (Your name is very sexy, btw.)

    ReplyDelete
  76. I'm not.

complication..how does that work as a drive?

    ReplyDelete
  77. am i the bouncing ball? should i be offended by that?

the characters? well, i like most people by nature. The only people that annnoy me here are the self-satsified moralists.
    i like open minded;hearted people.

    ReplyDelete
  78. I was thinking, 'measurement' so 'boundaries' is definitely in as well anon. Sexy? lol

    ReplyDelete
  79. Knowing how and when to be an "asshole" is so genius!

    Only for the pros.

    ReplyDelete
  80. Complication relieves boredom. It is a distraction from the boring and hard stuff like responsibilities and goals. Life should be easier. I'm going to marry someone very sweet like my Daddy. Maybe he won't be shit in bed.

    ReplyDelete
  81. I was wondering if, but hoping you would not take it that way but decided to go with the flow. Are you offended notme?

    ReplyDelete
  82. i was joking. what drives me? love, firstly. Fun. Having kids.
    what drives me changes.
Used to be lots of things. I can't be bothered these days. I like helping people, honestly, that's my strength, and creating ideas - always forging forward. I love a lot of things...

  108. Ooow I just realised it was Sea Witch, not Soulful who brought me to Erich Fromm. I hope she writes again soon.

    ReplyDelete
  109. It was beatolac under a different name who suggested Erich Fromm. Notme sure has a lot of reasons for hating satisfied moralists, and I'll take that definition happily. I doubt that she'll be very happy aftre rereading all the nonsense she has out here. Her idea of self-actualization is naming all her weaknesses and loving them and then later regretting them and loving them back (when drunk, of course). No learning in the process, amazing. Being a socio would probably be in her best interest given how out of control she can be. What a life.

It was interesting to see Gag not answer notme (true to no caring) whether he was beatolac or not. Gag, did you finish your Erich Fromm? Which one did you read, he has so many? Tell notme to read some of Erich Fromm, she would not listen to me but maybe to you.

"Actors spend their whole lives learning and practising their charisma, but when you look at the likes of Charles manson, how could you copy that? You can't it's impossible unless you are a psychopath."

This is what has made me wonder how so many people seem to be unable to discern between 'wannabe' psychopaths and the real thing. I never have much trouble telling who is what, but a lot of people obviously do.
