Smartest person in the room

Sorry for the particularly slow posting and comment moderation, I've been out of the country.

I stumbled upon this video, I have forgotten where. It's from personal financial guru Dave Ramsay, but it takes an interesting turn from the personal as the woman seeks what she believes is financial advice and instead he gives her marital advice.

Dave Ramsay says that they're at an impasse not because of the consumer debt that the couple has, but because their world views are colliding. He talks about there being a respect meltdown where "he is the king of everything and your opinion doesn't matter." He says it's debilitating. "How do we get your husband on board, uh, we don't, until he decides he's on board with being your husband." "He's just doing whatever the flip he wants to do and the rest of you just exist around him." "You're trying to work around this elephant that's in the middle of your living room . . .  and you can't work around it."

I feel like this must be the experience of a lot of people who are in a relationship with someone with certain types of mental health issues (including a lot of people with personality disorders) who have difficulty validating or acknowledging the personhood of others. I know in dealing with some lower functioning people with personality disorders, they will insist on absolute autonomy -- the right to do and say what they want, when they want and not to be accountable to other people for their choices. Often there is a double standard because they expect other people to consider them and their preferences in making choices. They can be hyper sensitive to anyone having an expectation of them, that they show up on time or do what they say they're going to do or fix the problems that they've created for other people. They'll whine about how people are trying to manipulate them or control them, trying to micromanage their life.

Unfortunately I think that Dave Ramsay is right -- when someone believes that he or she is the king of everything and the rest of people just exist around him/her, a healthy, functional relationship would be impossible. Trying to help a relationship that is already there is also impossible unless the other person is really willing to start acknowledging the personhood and role of others in his or her life.

  2. Am I the only one who loves meeting people like this? People who are convinced they are the center of the universe? I find few people more enjoyable to needle and infuriate. It's like a present from the world.

I found myself in an orgy, a few weeks ago. There was a man who was clearly compensating for something; he had that forced swagger of one who wants the limelight, but doesn't want that light to illuminate the cracks in the veneer. He seemed to think of himself as the shot-caller; telling people where to go, who to suck and fuck, and where to stay. He also had a bit of a rough hand, which he used to punctuate whatever commands he felt to give.

It was glorious. Throughout the night I played coy and docile while in groups, but would resist him at every turn when it was just us. Even when I decided to let him fuck me, I pulled him close and whispered insecurities in his ear. "They don't respect you", "Hear that? They're laughing about you", "Why do you think they wanted you to leave them alone and come to me?"

His first response was to amp up the aggression--he got very rough at one point, bordering on violent and coercive--but once it became clear that it wasn't affecting me, you could literally see him wilt like a flower in the heat.

It culminated when I kissed a bystander after pointedly refusing to kiss him for the entire night. He couldn't focus on his fucking, he couldn't focus on his performance; he just ended up in the corner, drunk and trying to hold the attention of pitying passer-bys.

Night well spent. Plus, getting fucked is always fun. Someone has to predate the people who think they've been knitted from God's pubic hair.

Did you go, knowing it was an orgy, or did it turn into one???

    5. Once or twice, but I prefer to grow one organically rather than know people who throw sex parties.

Few things are as exciting as managing to get my friends and acquaintances riled up enough to fall upon each other. And then, of course, to get involved in the carnage.

Ask around; i.e., know other sexually liberal people and be worth inviting to an orgy. If you can bring a smashing body, great flexibility or drugs to the table, you'll probably wing an invite.

    8. I mean physical flexibility. Nothing qualifies you for an orgy like the ability to put your feet behind your ears.

As for drugs, the common favourites seem to be speed and coke. They're more-ish drugs, and not my favourite by a long strike, but you take what you get.

Haven't been to sex clubs--don't think they exist in my city--but I have been to fetish parties. Stripped down and got flogged in front of a room full of people. Lots of fun.

    11. To accomplish is a verb.

      ac·com·plish

      verb

      -Achieve or complete successfully.
      "the planes accomplished their mission"

      synonyms: fulfill, achieve, succeed in, realize, attain, manage, bring about/off, carry out/through, execute, effect, perform, do, discharge, complete, finish, consummate, conclude;

To accomplish is to successfully execute.

By any definition, this demands that power be executed.

When you flick a switch, the power goes on. Your action accomplishes a task: you turn on the light.

Is this an *accomplishment*? Yes, it is:

      ac·com·plish·ment

      noun

-Something that has been achieved successfully.
"the reduction of inflation was a remarkable accomplishment"

synonyms: achievement, act, deed, exploit, performance, attainment, effort, feat, move, coup
"the reduction of inflation was a remarkable accomplishment"

-The successful achievement of a task.
      "the accomplishment of planned objectives"

-An activity that a person can do well, typically as a result of study or practice.
"long-distance running was another of her accomplishments"

There are many types of power, but none of them may be expressed outside the definition of accomplishing. In fact, "power" is defined primarily in terms of one's ability to do, or accomplish, something:

      Noun
      1.
ability to do or act; capability of doing or accomplishing something.

      2.
      political or national strength:
the balance of power in Europe.
      3.
great or marked ability to do or act; strength; might; force.
      4.
the possession of control or command over others; authority; ascendancy:
      power over men's minds.
      5.
political ascendancy or control in the government of a country, state, etc.:
They attained power by overthrowing the legal government.
      6.
      legal ability, capacity, or authority:
      the power of attorney.
      7.
delegated authority; authority granted to a person or persons in a particular office or capacity:
      the powers of the president.

      Verb (used with object)
      21.
to supply with electricity or other means of power:
Atomic energy powers the new submarines.
      22.
to give power to; make powerful:
An outstanding quarterback powered the team in its upset victory.
      23.
      to inspire; spur; sustain:
A strong faith in divine goodness powers his life.
      24.
(of a fuel, engine, or any source able to do work) to supply force to operate (a machine):
An electric motor powers this drill.
      25.
to drive or push by applying power:
She powered the car expertly up the winding mountain road.
      adjective
      26.
operated or driven by a motor or electricity:
      a power mower; power tools.
      27.
      power-assisted:
His new car has power brakes and power windows.
      28.
      conducting electricity:
      a power cable.
      29.
Informal. expressing or exerting power; involving or characteristic of those having authority or influence, as in power lunch; power couple; power suit.
      Verb phrases
      30.
power down, Computers. to shut off.
      31.
power up, Computers. to turn on.
      Idioms
      32.
the powers that be, those in supreme command; the authorities:
The decision is in the hands of the powers that be.

Is Power relevant to me? Nah, can't say it is, so, on that detailed and informative run down,

Bullshit. You're a dom. It is completely disingenuous for you to claim that power is of no import to you, considering that you have wrapped up a considerable portion of your identity in terms of wielding power of a very specific kind.

You are defensive because you know you have not lived up to our potential in certain areas of your life.

maybe the need for Power is a weakness?

      Maybe it is yours.

I like the definition of power as accomplishment.

I've recently witnessed some inept wielding of legitimate power by my MoR. It definitely hasn't resulted in work being done; meaning the business is in a precarious position and staff are heading into Christmas questioning their choice of employer. Nothing has been accomplished; indeed his strategy deliberately isolates achievers and is leading to the failure anyone with half a brain might have predicted.

Leaders hire leaders. Narcs hire sycophants to create an empire as false and fragile as their own self.

    17. The best learning from the experience for me was that I no longer need to react chaotically to the drama created in these false power dynamics.

As I've said all along regarding **-*, the worst they can do is frustrate. That's annoying... but it's not the global control they wish they had.

I'm still learning to apply this stuff with **-*. For the most part it simply means realising his otherness and thus my own distinctness. Then I'm left to address my own fears before responding.

Neo in the Matrix says "the problem is choice." Rather: choice is opportunity. It is the inevitable result of personal power and flows from self-awareness.

And North [@ 10.41am]: Also agreed.

As for Anon @ 3.41am: Being full of common sense is a rare quality so don't denigrate it; anyone who comments on a blog 'to make someone cry' really needs to get a life. Create your own blog, maybe.

Unemployment is vastly overrated as a career option; and ME spending two years in therapy without having learned the lessons encapsulated in her current blog entry, would have been a rather pointless waste of her money and time.

On a more negative note; North, 8-/ it was easy to feel superiority when the 'established hierarchy' consisted of V, A/SE masquerading as individuals with a few brain cells to rub together. It seems that ME has grown up, and is not very subtly suggesting that some of her posters never will.

No need to respond North, just passing thru. [and don't feel bad about the other place; it's really *not* suitable for most].

  24. Most people are manipulated willingly, whether they know it or not. For all kinds of reasons. Sometimes because it's easier to believe a lie, especially a flattering one. Sometimes we're too lazy to confront the manipulation and so play along. Sometimes we allow others to manipulate because we know that that will bind them closer and lower their guard -- then we can work the glow of things beneath their conscious awareness. And sometimes, by allowing the person to think they are the one who is manipulating/controlling, we do so to relish the joke, and/or the feeling that we are bolstering someone's sense of power, so they won't bother seeing us a threat. I often let people think they are the ones in control, especially if the matter at hand means little to me (what show to watch, where to eat). Easier than butting heads most of the time.

  25. I suppose in lieu of the NSA, FBI, whoever, that I should, in all conscience, clarify that I'm not a physical threat. Unless you come for my family. Then I'm capable of extreme direct action. Otherwise, I prefer the pen to the sword.

But, hey, why not chat first? Find common ground? If someone tries to control me via money, sex, status, it doesn't work. I don't care about those things, thus they have no power over me. I also consider my own corpereal-spiritual-mental being a bit of a fluke, all things considered.

A yoga master once ate LSD in front of me. Then gave a lecture at a university in Boulder Colorado, to much acclaim. I asked him, How? He said, You think drugs alter reality. I say I alter drugs.

Anyway, those who think they manipulate their way into perceiving and manipulating fundamental reality are fooling themselves. Physics always wills out. I.E., You can't decimate earth's life-sustaining ecosystems for power and profit without destroying yourself. That's why Trump and his selfish and stupid cabinet will lead to the ends of earth as we know it.

Many people want to champion the individual's will to power and supremacy over other beings. The truth of science shows that all living organisms are interconnected. No escape from doing to others what we do to ourselves.

Whew. What a relief to rant a wee bit

    2. Not much to tell, Alice. It happened in 1973 or 74, while I was staying at an ashram. A guy brought in a sheet of blotter acid, about 50 or so hits and was about to give me one, when the yogi walked into the kitchen and saw what was happening. He grabbed the blotter sheet from the guy's hand and proceeded to lecture him and me, saying something like, You think this drug has power, that it can help you see the true nature of reality? He said more stuff I can't remember -- I just recall him being very mad that the guy had brought LDS into the ashram. Anyway, he ate the whole sheet of blotter acid, sat down in Lotus and made us sit facing him, till it was time to go give the lecture. Afterwards, he asked me what I had seen. Confused, I said, Nothing. Nothing happened. Exactly, he replied. I altered the chemistry of the drug. Or something like that.

He was a scary but very cool guy. I still wonder whether he was simply a magician whose hands were quicker than my eyes. I've thought about it for years because at the time it had a huge impact on me. (I had been a student of yoga for many years by this point, and had already experienced the initial awakening of the kundalini, which convinced me that yoga was truly an exercise that could lead to enlightenment.)

      Mr. Hyde

      Delete
    3. hey mr. hyde, thanks for sharing. very interesting story... your yoga master is quite a fascinating person, maybe I should also start with yoga, even if I don't believe that it's possible to alter the impact of drugs only by willpower I guess it's worth a try.

    4. Alice,

I dunno either. Like I said, I've always wondered if he fooled us. Then again, the placebo effect is real. . .has a real physical effect. And so is kundalini a real phenomena. I only experienced it once, unexpectedly during a yoga class, but the effect on my mentality was astounding.

Ignore him. He's beneath you. Or take action. If he says he's going to kick your ass, kick his ass.

    17. It seems alice is correct. Your statements are mutually contradictory. Your comments below make you look bipolar, even if you're not.

Not as a judgement, just as an impression based on your stated mood swings, and your up and down posture about whether or not you should manipulate other people, whether to show weakness or strength.

You are weak, but you want to be strong, and this is good for you. The part about formlessness is very good, as is your studying the laws of power.

As for Vegas, who knows what she is, maybe she is a nuisance.

      Delete
    18. Hoo boy. Let's take a slow swing, shall we?

"who doesn't even know me" --> Broody aspirations towards being enigmatic and misunderstood.

"Every time he's around I'm using a low key, reserved mask/persona and he thinks I'm a soft target" --> You mean, every time he's around you fold in on yourself and mute up?

"I was planning on challenging this prick to a boxing match, that way I'm sanctioned to hurt him." --> No one has ever used the word "sanctioned" while talking about street violence. Step up.

"I also thought of whacking him, but too messy" --> Suuuuuure you have, buddy. I believe you. I believe you have the capacity to "whack" somebody.

"I have so much self respect and I can't even take it when my false personas are mocked" --> So much self respect, some two-bit guy on the street drives you to whine on the internet? Fuck off.

You're a nobody. You claim to be masked under false personas just to distract from the fact that you're a spineless, boring dredge of human garbage, muttering through closed teeth at the "injustices" of the world.

That muted persona isn't a facade. It's who you are. I'm willing to bet that you're someone who spends a lot of time thinking about how recent arguments "could have" gone, and fantasising all sorts of domination and verbal conquest which ends up with you on top. Imagining "then I'd have said this, and boom!"; or picturing yourself beating up someone I've little doubt will run you through the ringer.

My advice is to accept that you're a boring hunk of flaccid impotence. You will amount to nothing. Your fake personas are worthy of being mocked. YOUR persona is worthy of being mocked. Because they are one and the same.

      -k.b.

    20. The dirty mirror is when you act a certain way or tell stories to ellicit a response from your mark. By acting arrogant or other times, timid or weak and telling sob stories, people look into your "mirror" and see themselves. They start projecting onto their own reflection. It's subconscious on their parts, but as a manipulator you know how to pull the person's strings by their response. it works a dream.

      Delete
    21. it works best with beepers and other psychically broken types. when they see the dirt on the mirror (their reflection) they have a need to clean it by projecting and getting rid of their 'dirt' the key is to keep making the mirror dirtier and dirtier so the beeper savages themselves and spills their guts out to clean it.

  29. HOW MY MARRIAGE WAS RESTORED.
Am chamberlain packer from USA, On feb 23, 2016 my wife and family confronted me in our marital home about an issue of a lady I was having an affair with and it resulted that my wife parked her belongings out of our home. She later filed for a restraining order which was granted 8/28/2016 - 8/28/2017 and she has also filed for divorce. I have done everything I could to communicate with her to no avail. Her family does not want to see me either especially her mother. Her mother has been an issue since day one as she constantly rejects the union. i became so confused as thinking now becomes my food daily , even at work i came hardly concentrate until a friend of mine notice it and ask what was wrong and i explain everything to him and he told me how Dr.Noble had helped him restore his broken marriage earlier so i ask him for his contact and he told me that the doctor stay in Italy so i couldn't travel to Italy so i collected his email (noblespellhome@gmail.com) and email him and explain everything to him and he assure me that everything will be okay in 7 days, and to my greatest surprise after casting the spell within 7 days my broken marriage turned around and my wife who had earlier packed out of my house came back begging and i forgive her and we are now together happily and she have cancelled her divorce case and her mom and everyone in the family are now happy with me peace and love now reign in the family . all thanks to Dr.noble who helped me restored my broken marriage .

  30. psychopaths have a blank robotic stare. it's very eerie when you first witness it. it's hard to describe. it's not a beady look or an angry one. not malicious or vindictive. the eyes are innocent and doll like. they look past you as if you're a piece of cardboard or block of a cheese. it shows the empty white walled room that is their soul

I think it depends on whether I find the person interesting, and whether I wanna play...

  34. Has anyone observed someone with borderline traits that they have this insane deep love for animals. I love my dog, sleep with my dog and my husband can't understand why I am so attached to her. He's gone so far to even say, " it's a fucken dog, why do you attach better with animals than humans." Lol.

I have no idea why I'm like this? Can anyone relate or have you observed this in anyone who has borderline traits that you know of.

    1. SP,

Borderline or not, humans find comfort and acceptance in animal companionship. No judgments, abstractions. They are what they are, and accept us as such. If you treat an animal kindly, they will risk fire, earthquakes and other dangerous situations, to save you. They touch the silent screaming presence of being alive in every nerve. Pets provide solace, joy and a link to the beast inside us all.

    3. The only things I get attached to is clothes. I care more about some items of clothes I have than my family. I have this North face jacket 9 years, from my school days and I can't just throw it away. I feel like it's an ancient relic like the Shroud of turin or the Mona Lisa because it's been worn by me so much. Also, if I bleed while shaving or something, I always try to save my blood in a jar because i can't just waste something that rare and majestic, it's not common blood that you just chuck away.

With animals I don't feel an attachment to them when I look at them. If anything I just get hungry and it makes me want to cook and eat them.

      Delete
    4. seriously adam, you are trying to save your blood in a jar? it's neither rare nor majestic haha... it's nothing special, just consisting of iron and hydrocarbons and a little bit nitrogen... like most organic compounds... it would be better to put all your blood back to nature so it can be decomposed and be used as new natural building blocks so it would have at least one meaningful function... honestly I have never seen someone that pathetic and annoying

  35. Hi everyone, I'm so excited.
My ex-boyfriend is back after a breakup,I’m extremely happy that will are living together again.
My name is Mary Wilkie from England.
My boyfriend of a 4yr just broke up with me and am 30 weeks pregnant.I have cried my self to sleep most of the nights and don’t seem to concentrate during lectures sometimes I stay awake almost all night thinking about him and start to cry all over again.Because of this I end up not having energy for my next day’s classes ,my attendance has dropped and am always in uni and on time. Generally he is a very nice guy ,he ended it because he said we were arguing a lot and not getting along. He is right we’ve been arguing during the pregnancy a lot .After the break up I kept ringing him and telling him I will change.I am in love with this guy and he is the best guy I have ever been with.I’m still hurt and in disbelief when he said he didn’t have any romantic feelings towards me anymore that hurt me faster than a lethal syringe. He texts me now and then mainly to check up on how am doing with the pregnancy,he is supportive with it but it’s not fair on me, him texting me as I just want to grieve the pain and not have any stress due to the pregnancy.i was really upset and i needed help, so i searched for help online and I came across a website that suggested that Dr Unity can help solve marital problems, restore broken relationships and so on. So, I felt I should give him a try. I contacted him and he told me what to do and i did it then he did a spell for me. 28 hours later, my bf came to me and apologized for the wrongs he did and promise never to do it again. Ever since then, everything has returned back to normal. I and my bf are living together happily again.. All thanks to Dr Unity. If you have any problem contact Dr.Unity now and i guarantee you that he will help you.Email him at: Unityspelltemple@gmail.com ,you can also call him or add him on Whats-app: +2348071622464 ,His website: http://unityspelltemple.yolasite.com .

    8. You don't have to apologise to me, V. I pointed it out simply because you are presenting like a stalker. And stalkers are creepy. I was starting to pity M.E., picturing her rolling her eyes, wielding knives. This may be a sociopathic space but that doesn't mean anything goes. Show some class. Restrain yourself. I would imagine being overly gushy does not win the cold hearts of socio ladies.

  41. Perhaps today's youth intentionally decorates their skin because in reality they are, as ive observed at the weekend, Generation Yawn, a boring, self-obsessed tribe of social-media-addicted, tablet-tapping, law-abiding, career-obsessed, Right-wing, alcohol-avoiding, gym-going consumers who simply don't know how to enjoy themselves. Youth truly is wasted on the young

Constant bragging about oneself is NOT charming. Bragging does not convince others that you're smart, cool or alpha. Quite the opposite.

    Mr. Hyde

    ReplyDelete
  46. Believe me, in the real world I dont brag at all. I have low keyness down to an art form. When I come on here I loosen the collar and act vulgar. You're right in a way, son. People today think peacocking and bragging are a sign of being powerful, but power is more to do with how you carry yourself and what goes on between the ears

"In school I was the class entertainer, so entertaining people comes naturally to me. I've always been great at using my body to communicate and it's a handy weapon to use on losers and timid types. Recently, while walking to the gym some business woman blocked my path. I wailed my hands around and said "so very sorry your highness" Instantly, the whole street erupted in laughter. With one line I made all the bitches on that street wet and all the guys wanted to buy me a drink because of my display of courage, but unlucky for them, I'm a busy man"
