Human purpose

This was an thought provoking comment from an old post:

being a sociopath can be incredibly beneficial, and most of us are smart enough to react properly and "empathetically" to most situations, as long as we choose to be inherently good and exercise any amount of willpower over our actions we become capable of pretty great things, the lack of guilt or shame and general quick wit and flamboyance that we often exude is great for attracting a wonderful spouse with whatever qualities you choose to seek if family is something we choose to pursue. if not we can turn those same traits and find success in business and advertising and marketing with ease, we make pretty good managers and business owners as we never have to worry about emotions clouding our judgement, this generally avoids issues with depression and fortifies us against things like PTSD, heartbreak, or emotional stress. by no means are we evil, and we did not choose to be wired like this, its only natural for a creature to play to its strengths and use what resources it has at its disposal to attain comfort and success and advance for personal gain then reproduce with a suitable mate. at our very core this is the greatest purpose any human has managed to achieve so far and we just go about it a little differently. the truth is if a climatic event were to happen tomorrow, and society were to collapse I believe sociopaths would have the greatest chance of survival in a more...natural environment. this is probably why were still such a common occurrence, and may even eventually become the norm for the human species. most "empaths" are afraid of sociopaths to some degree, and regard us as dangerous but we aren't afraid of them, think long and hard about what that says about how this food chain is working. last I checked, the lion isn't scared or wary of the antelope and the wolves do not steer clear of deer. and really I could keep going for hours with every metaphor on the planet but the point is whatever differences we have in our genetics we all still exhibit free will and are all still in control of, and accountable for our actions. we are what we choose to be, whether our heartstrings are capable of being plucked or not. and no intelligent creature should forget that.

There were a lot of possibly controversial points made, but the one that stuck out to me most was "its only natural for a creature to play to its strengths and use what resources it has at its disposal to attain comfort and success and advance for personal gain then reproduce with a suitable mate. at our very core this is the greatest purpose any human has managed to achieve so far".

      I wish!

I've been to the "Heart of Darkness" (Metropolitan Los Angeles) as part of the holiday circuit. ("the horror...the horror...the horror...") Actually, the Unholy Spawn and I had a nice visit.

Ma and The Brood leave tomorrow for an extended stay away - I will be watching videos in my underwear - I know how to live. ;)~

I am sure I will post more than usual too... *smirk*

    3. Hi Sceli,

No "poor baby" needed here - it's an annual break from the din...that and the practical problem of caring for the animals (two cats and a dog).

It's also a much needed break from Ma - I have no doubt that she could bring a dozen Sherpa to their knees weeping in exhaustion.

For all practical purposes, I've always wanted kids...a wife...well...that's been a trickier issue...

    4. :) You're bringing everything back to the basics, lol..

You made me think about how children would feel if they were raised by a man on an island with no idea od mother ever told them. I guess I'm trying to understand if motherhood holds such a special place that it could be exceptional in terms of you don't miss what you never knew.

      What do you think?

    5. I think kids are happiest when they are "bonded" to someone that can help them meet their needs. But I also think it depends on what sort of people you want them to become and what they are really capable of growing into.

Usually, moms are better at the first year or so. I do believe that "breast is best" for kids and 18-24mos. seems to be a good compromise to start weaning. I'm not bothered by older kids breast feeding - though I don't think it'll be "right" for my kids.

However, I spend as much time with my kids as I can as well - I wear/wore them and I take them with me and play with them.

Once they are up and about - 4-5-ish it's really much less important (gender specific issues not withstanding; boys and girls are equipped differently...). At that point, I think it becomes more important that the kids see "healthy behavior" modeled on a day to day basis and the child-parent bond(s) be maintained and grown in appropriate ways.

But, this is the sort of topic that is potentially even more "flammable" than politics - LOL!

What a wonderful and a straight forward spell caster that has brought back joy and happiness into my life after i saw a post on how he helped a lady called Nicole Morgan; i decided to contact him for help, when i told this God sent man Dr Eboehi on how my lover left me for 2 years without calling nor texting me, When i shared this my sad experience with Dr Eboehi he said everything would be okay within 3 days i was like am i sure what this man is saying is real, So i decided to give him a try and at first i was thinking he was a scam and i taught he was like other spell casters who come online to add pain to people's life not knowing there feelings but to make money, this great man Dr Eboehi is never like that because he is for good and to make people happy with the one they love, am just so happy, Even before the 3 days i just got a call from a man who has left me for 2 years saying that he his sorry and that he wants me back to his life i was so happy, He invited me for a dinner which i met with him there and we both talked, he said he wants to prove that he would never leave me for any other lady he engaged me and also made me had access to all his account am so happy all thanks goes to this great man Dr Eboehi a man who has brought back joy to my life, friends that need help in getting their lover's back i would advice you contact Dr Eboehi via email: { eboehispellcaster@gmail.com } because he is the right man to help you get your problem solved.

  2. Have you ever seen a water buffalo attack a lion? It seems like sociopaths are the ones that are afraid since it's the thing they fear most is telling people what disorder they have.

    1. Caution is not the same as fear. Perhaps some are afraid. I think that most just realize that hiding is easier.

Think about the things you'd rather the world not know about you. Are you afraid? Probably not. It's just something you choose not to talk about.

      Same principle.

Empath fear sociopaths because lack of empathy is something they don't understand. It's possible for most of them to know intellectually that some people have little to no empathy; but it is very difficult to truly understand it. Even Aspie me, with my flock of empathy-irregular friends- I have trouble sometimes wrapping my head around not dampened empathy, not stifled empathy, not selective empathy, but no empathy at all. My brain has a moment of "does not compute" before I remember my familiarity with it. People fear what they do not understand, and especially what they cannot understand. This is why empaths are often confused, thinking sociopaths are the scum of the earth, or that they can be helped" and "cured" of their sociopathy (some empathy in this case are the holier at hand thou type, some are perfect examples of the 'perils of the well I intentioned.". And this is why sociopathy makes many empathy uncomfortable, or even afraid.

Sociopaths, on the other hand, understand empaths quite well. It's difficult for an empath to mimic sociopathy, but easy as pie for a sociopath to mimic empathy. Sociopaths aren't afraid of empaths because they know how to navigate the neurotypical world. As in the case of the water buffalo, a sociopath might fear a particular empathy, or at least use more caution, if said empath has proven itself to be a potential or active threat.

Personally, there are many situations in which I would be more comfortable and feel safer in a room full of sociopaths than in a room full of empaths. Empaths can be so illogical when they are afraid (think stampeding wildebeest). For instance, when they're scared of sociopaths.

Sociopaths (for the most part) aren't afraid. They just (for the most part) aren't stupid.

  5. Has Dexter been analyzed properly here? If the unreal police-job/secret murder career is forgotten there seems to have been lots of "thinking" going on when putting together the fictive character? Its most likely the most realistic "movie psychopath" of all time. Especially the "low" character-mode is impressive, its very real. Not a happy person, not a sad one: neutral. Almost machine-like, but never close to being a parody. It would have been so easy to just make a stereotype "up"-type with a big grin on his face. And the "mourning" over never being able to have/do what normal folks have gives depth to the portrait. This exists, bright specimens feel/know this. BUT: sociopathy and murder are linked in ways which just seem very silly, nobody with any knowledge of the condition buys that. It seems to "cater" to viewers expectations..maybe IT HAS TO BE that way in the USA? Otherwise no sponsors?

  6. Ode to HLH from the WSJDecember 28, 2014 at 4:30 PM

The following is a more properly scientific treatment of a religious concept than is this puff piece by Mr. Metaxas, touting his book and appropriately labeled 'opinion', although the following suffers at the end from a similar illogical leap.
It is ostensibly an actual question given on a University of Arizona
chemistry midterm and an actual answer turned in by a student.

The answer by one student was so 'profound' that the professor shared it with colleagues, via the Internet, which is, of course, why we now have the pleasure of enjoying it as well.

Bonus Question: Is Hell exothermic (gives off heat) or endothermic (absorbs heat)?

Most of the students wrote proofs of their beliefs using Boyle's Law (a gas cools when it expands and heats when it is compressed) or some variant.

    One student wrote the following:

First, we need to know how the mass of Hell is changing in time. So we need to know the rate at which souls are moving into Hell and the rate at which they are leaving, which is unlikely. I think that we can safely assume that once a soul gets to Hell, it will not leave. Therefore, no souls are leaving. As for how many souls are entering Hell, let's look at the different religions that exist in the world today.

Most of these religions state that if you are not a member of their religion, you will go to Hell. Since there is more than one of these religions and since people do not belong to more than one religion, we can project that all souls go to Hell. With birth and death rates as they are, we can expect the number of souls in Hell to increase exponentially. Now, we look at the rate of change of the volume in Hell because Boyle's Law states that in order for the temperature and pressure in Hell to stay the same, the volume of Hell has to expand proportionately as souls are added.

    This gives two possibilities:

    1. If Hell is expanding at a slower rate than the rate at which souls enter Hell, then the temperature and pressure in Hell will increase until all Hell breaks loose.

    2. If Hell is expanding at a rate faster than the increase of souls in Hell, then the temperature and pressure will drop until Hell freezes over.

    So which is it?

If we accept the postulate given to me by Teresa during my Freshman year that, 'It will be a cold day in Hell before I sleep with you,' and take into account the fact that I slept with her last night, then number two must be true, and thus I am sure that Hell is exothermic and has already frozen over. The corollary of this theory is that since Hell has frozen over, it follows that it is not accepting any more souls and is therefore extinct.......leaving only Heaven, thereby proving the existence of a divine being which explains why, last night, Teresa kept shouting 'Oh my God.'

    THIS STUDENT RECEIVED AN A+.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. MY CRITIQUE: The conclusion is an illogical leap in that it does not follow that since Hell has gone extinct therefore Heaven exists, let alone that God exists, unless one believes in the first place that there is a God who created both Hell and Heaven, or that there would be no Hell, or Heaven, without God. Otherwise, it might be that there is only Hell and if it becomes extinct there is nothing left but a kind of limbo.
With respect to Teresa's postulate, methinks she did protest too much, perhaps because she wanted to get married, which of course would have had a chilling effect, but then there is no mention of marriage so one must assume that whatever sex was involved was premarital, so she must have relented, and this guy would certainly have been capable of chipping away relentlessly at her defenses. Her shouting 'Oh my God' likely had more to do with guilt feelings than any revelation of divinity, and of course use of that phrase, now with an internet abbreviation OMG, is the very least likely of scientific indicators since it is currently the offhand pedestrian oath of choice for a vast majority, having swept through the population like no other meme before it, most users totally unaware that they are breaking the 3rd Commandment and will roast in Hell for it, opaque people highly unlikely to have meaningful revelations of divinity.
My other quibble about this is that a soul has no mass--everybody knows that ghosts can walk through walls, which they couldn't do if they had mass. Since souls have no mass, then Boyle's law doesn't apply, nor do any of the other laws of chemistry and physics, or science in general; none are applicable to supernatural phenomena anyhow, since divine beings are by definition capable of gratuitously breaking their own laws, witness that God commited adultery with a mortal's betrothed when He could have simply grabbed up a handful of dust, spit on it, and created His very own spit 'n' image son. Thus, the bonus question re whether Hell is exothermic or endothermic is meaningless. Nevertheless, I would say that in a sense Hell is exothermic because any religious concept generates more heat than light

    2. I had NO IDEA that Rupert had such feelings for me to publish such an article!!! I am flattered! 8)~

However, the above argument completely ignores the possibility that the "soul" may be made up a dark matter, which doesn't seem to behave in the same way that "tangible" matter (e.g. neutrinos aren't all that "tangible" since they don't much interact with other matter - and they aren't even "dark"). I'm not suggesting that I think there's a soul - just that the above argument is incomplete given the most recent developments in physics.

I mean, does dark matter follow Boyle's law? Until we understand what it really is, the whole argument in spurious.

Once all that is established, we can get back to proving that the whole concept of a soul is a fools errand...

I do hope that avoids the whole moralistic conversation...

Yes we're fallen, yes we killed the Christ, yes things are hopeless - embracing amoralism was proposed late C19th by Nietzsche - look at the C20th! Now to talk purpose you've only got the Kingdom of God left, there is nothing after Christ. See DB Hart's 'Christ and Nothing'.

Do you think the angels, without psychological movers like emotions can love? So what if one's movers/emotions are powerful and irrational/self destructive - who ever said human life isn't a civil war of contending changing desires? But to go all Protagoras but use different terms is just sad.

Look, of course God exists but so what "the demons believe and tremble" - it is loving that is work, that is hard - dying to self (not slavishly but rationally) rather than anxious and inordinate desire for self preservation - the Gospels have this at its centre - the religio-political elite had no doubt God existed and believed they were serving Him but killed Him instead. In a Christian civilisation ignorance of these simple truths is unforgiveable - you have the internet.

I mean how sociopathic do you have to be to kill God? To have no doubt Lazarus was raised, (Bethany is just over the hill from Jerusalem) John 11, and for this very reason decide to murder Jesus. (and Lazarus too).

Christians have been plugging along all these years and ignoring the third part of the story. It is called the Quran. You might want to look into it.

As for sociopathy and its place within that construct...hmm. Allah proposed that he would test human beings with other human beings. As well as with the djinn. To see if they were able to follow the story.

Sociopaths in my estimation provide a glance into the world of evil and it is my opinion that there is a cure. Absolutely. Islam does not require 'feelings'. It requires intellect, knowledge and sincerity. All of those available to any sociopath should they bother themselves with such trivial details as eternity versus the material world replete with moral excesses and restrictions. guilt is an emotion and socio's feel guilt a little differently. in my experience, its not so much guilt you feel, its more that you feel confronted and pissed off that you got caught so you quickly try to "fix" things either by pushing blame elsewhere or with more lies depending on the situation.

as for the situation with your fiance, what are you hoping to gain with your lies? you must not be completely fulfilled with this woman or maybe you don't feel completely secure in your control? either way, if you have something to gain, then do it, if not then wait it out.

people do things because they get something out of it. be aware of your needs and wants then do what you need to do to acheive this goal (like security in your control.)

Very interesting about not telling someone you cheated on them. Also very interesting the reactions of empaths who talk about shame and lies of these cheaters in a disdainful tone... I can only imagine a sociopath thinking this person is very illogical... at least that's what I'm thinking when I read them.

So I really had to think for myself, why would I be compelled to tell someone I cheated on them? It really makes no logical sense. So here's my best answer, and I think it is for selfish reasons. When an empath imagines someone's situation they experience feelings as if it has happened to them. Not all the time of course, it's proportional to the order (lowest to highest) country, community, friends, family. So in fact if I cheat on my wife, it hurts as if she cheated on me! Weird huh?

Same reason I wouldn't want to kill someone. After having killed, whenever remembering it I would imagine their family's loss and to a lesser extent I would feel the emotions of if I had lost someone.

Yeah, weird, but evolutionarily it's done well to keep communities alive... of course other communities be damned... I think we're all a little sociopathic in that way. Morals and religions only apply in certain situation and for certain people.

I just realized a sociopath may not care at all if someone cheats on them or if a family member dies.

Spontaneously sharing someone's emotions (empathy) and after a while that connection itself becomes like a food I like. So if that person dies, then it's like I don't get to taste that food again... I've lost the source of experiencing those emotions in that particular way. In the case of cheating, the connection isn't lost, but it's damaged, and risks being lost.

    1. Sociopaths do not care about cheating. They prefer people to do bad things in order for them to feel justified. It's a simple amoral code that lacks any semblance of humanity.

  17. March 25 2012,
so yesterday i was driving to the art gallery and i saw this guy hop up on the qe bridge like he was going to jump.. i called 911, and explained to police situation. within 5 mins, cop cars had the area blocked off and this time he was standing on the railing flailing his arms arguing with police.. should I feel good i potentially saved his life, or bad that i ruined his plan?

  19. So I had this dream I was running around some chain link fences and I'd find books underwater along the way. I picked up 3 and then put them at the end of my bed to look at later. Then there was this bigger book I was looking at that became a movie, it was about 3 lesbian serial killers... it was gruesome. They would kill girls and cut them up into pieces and eat them. They'd also cut them up and construct fake people and use them as props to scare other people. They were notorious gangsters and had lots of money and have beat up and killed many people. I kept trying to get up out of bed but I couldn't because I kept finding these heavy pieces of things laying next to me in bed that weighed me down and I'd have to pick them up in order to carry them and move. These turned out to be grey hands and feet. I realize I was one of the killers. Everytime I got to the door of my bedroom, I'd suddenly be back in bed again with the body pieces. I finally managed to wake myself up for real.

  20. if you want to change your life any any way, the single most important and effective thing you can do is to raise your self esteem. Why? Because self esteem enables your best behavior. To refer back to the executive functions, self esteem makes planning and making decisions easier, improves your ability to correct errors and troubleshoot, gives you the confidence to handle unusual situations and novel sequences of actions, helps you deal effectively with dangerous or technical difficulties, and enables your power to overcome strong habitual responses and resist temptations that distract you from more important motivations. Please note that the kind of self esteem I'm talking about involves feeling good about yourself even when you are not perfect, and regardless of how other people think or act. It has nothing to do with thinking or trying to prove that you are better than others.

  24. MANA:
    -supernatural or divine power
    -miraculous power
    -authority
    -power

Mai ka po mai ka mana (Power comes from the inner world - the infinite source shared by everyone and everything).

    1. No person, being, object, or circumstance has any power over us.
    2. By our own decision and belief we can act like others haev more power over our life than we do, but the power to do that also comes from within.
    3. 'God' acts through us, not upon us.
    4. If you have a dream, you have the power to make it come true. You also have the power to make it difficult.

  27. I used to need to be preternaturally stoical and during that time I believe I was sociopathic. An eminent judge I was dating described me as "Oriental". "Transcending emotions and their manifestation" , he explained. "I can't afford emotions," I explained. "They're a luxury".

Years later, free of prescription drugs, alcohol, nuisance judges etc., I've recovered my humanity - and thanks to Medjugorje, burgeoning holiness and a talent. What I'm best at doing is restoring people whose health, dignity, lives, finances, houses, are in ruin, back to independent ease and comfort. It is beyond delighting - it is a permanent trip.

  32. The following statement is the best part of this and many posts I've read so far, all of us, empaths and sociopaths, have meta awareness, and we should harness it for protection and survival:

"whatever differences we have in our genetics we all still exhibit free will and are all still in control of, and accountable for our actions. we are what we choose to be, whether our heartstrings are capable of being plucked or not. and no intelligent creature should forget that."

  34. My husband have return back to me after a divorce with the help of Mallam Zack, My name is Michele Owen, i am from London,Uk. I'm happily married to a lovely and caring husband with two kids. A very big problem occurred in my family seven months ago, between me and my husband .so terrible that he took the case to court for a divorce.he said that he never wanted to stay with me again, and that he didn't love me anymore. So he packed out of the house and made me and my children passed through severe pain. I tried all my possible means to get him back, after much begging, but all to no avail.and he confirmed it that he has made his decision, and he never wanted to see me again. So on one evening,as i was coming back from work,i met an old friend of mine who asked of my husband .So i explained every thing to him,so he told me that the only way i can get my husband back,is to visit a spell caster, because it has really worked for him too.So i never believed in spell, but i had no other choice, than to follow his advice. Then he gave me the email address of the spell caster whom he visited.{nwalutaspelltemple@gmail.com}. So the next morning,i sent a mail to the address he gave to me,and the spell caster assured me that i will get my husband back the next day. What an amazing statement!! I never believed,so he spoke with me,and told me everything that i need to do. Then the next morning, So surprisingly, my husband who didn't call me for the past 9 months, gave me a call to inform me that he was coming back.So Amazing!! So that was how he came back that same day, with lots of love and joy,and he apologized for his mistake, and for the pain he caused me and my children. Then from that day,our relationship was now stronger than how it were before,by the help of a spell caster. So, i will advice you out there to kindly visit the same website { http://nwalutaspelltemple.yolasite.com } if you have any problem contact Chief Nwaluta Mallam Zack, SO HERE IS EMAIL ADDRESS {NWALUTASPELLTEMPLE@GMAIL.COM } website : http://chiefnwalutamallamzack.yolasite.com , Thanks you Chief Nwaluta, i will always be testifying about your good work.
