Here's the Blake video on boredom and careers! More invite info up soon.

  1. I was going to suggest passive income if necessity to work is a problem. Jobs that heavily require discipline, commitment, reliability/responsibility may not be the most sustainable for psychopaths, flexibility and variety tend to appeal more. As for how to better manage boredom, in a job and in life, I direct the hunger for power/control inwards and learn to manipulate myself so I would be more intentional with "experimenting" instead of succumbing to every impulse uninhibitedly.

  2. The sky is red tonight, behind the rolling clouds. The air is cool, and I'm in the playground thinking about my cats.

I saw that neighbourhood cat over the weekend... the stray who bared it's teeth at me a year or so ago, when it was a frightened kitten hiding in the drain.

This time, it looked at me as I spoke to it, it didn't run or snarl.

The Other Cat is concerned I will leave him, and there's nothing he can do about it. He has called the dogs off, but it's a bit late - fate is in not in his hands now, nor mine.

But my Favourite Cat - well, I think he wants me to forget. That will simply take time.

  3. I a fairytale a psycho cat lay in a weird womans bed. "-This bed is now mine, you can sleep on the floor you odd harpy" it said. "-But I try to please people & act like a popular tv personality, surely then destiny wants me to have a bed?" the woman said. "-No, I´ve talked to the spiritual powers in charge and they said: let the weird one sleep on the floor, maybe then she will start to resemble something similar to the things she is yapping about" the cat growled.

    1. Correction: In a fairytale...

    2. Monsieur Chat, j'écris mes propres expériences

  4. This and the previous discussions suggest this boredom is better described as a numbness. Like the feelings of empaths but with the volume turned down.

Also interesting to note the change over time of more or more intense emotional response. This ties in with a theory where sociopaths develop or better experience emotions after 30.

The impulsiveness and inability to learn from mistakes does seem to be more resilient to change.

    Fascinating as always.
