Psychology In Seattle Podcast: Psychopathy

I thought this was good sort of intro/overview:

He had an interesting analogy about psychopathy being on a spectrum, personalities having different shades and colors. Your personality is blue, but is it dark or light blue? If you are a psychopath and a serial killer maybe you are dark blue, and back up to a lighter blue you would have the same traits but not as strong.

"Psychopaths are people too."

"Yes, they are."

The comments for the video are pretty entertaining too: "you also have to account for external programming, extensive trauma in childhood and possession. most of the psychopathic killers are actually specifically programmed and possessed by reptilian or demonic entities. Heal those things and they would be quite different."

So true.

    2. Sounds like something Jessi would try. Maybe that's why she thinks she knows so much about psychology.

    8. I dont quite get the tweet but I'll take a stab...

Know thyself because when the sociopath mirrors u u can say to urself: err nope ya got it wrong this time but i can see where you may got that from, better luck next time !

so what is the point? I will surmise reduntantly: You get to say to yourself that your friend, the sociopath is quite adorable for trying to put emotional worms in you and you can say nope , got a good sense of myself already, thanks much for the effort"

And ? You can coexist autonomously with your friend, the sociopath? I mean if that's one of your pleasures, kudos and have fun with your friend the sociopath! <Whatever floats your boat, puts a smile on your face, gives you fun with your friend the sociopath.

Dance and do enjoy, Jessi! Life is about fun with the people all around you, not a select few! Fuck yeah!

    9. This occasional little tiff simply won't do.

Try and put some feeling into it.

    10. in my opinion "know thyself and you will know the sociopath" means, you can only tell, when a sociopath is mirroring you, if you know, what is inside yourself. And if you are in touch with your inner feelings you will regognize somebody who hasn't got this kind of feelings, because he cannot resonate your emotions properly.

    11. ...or, perhaps if you know yourself you will know that you have a part inside of you that is sociopathic. Not all people are able to see that they are capable of being all things given certain circumstances--- a beggar, a whore, a lunatic, a murderer, a saint.... Its that simple. I like the continuum concept too. We are all on different levels of that continuum of behaviors, regardless of our diagnoses. - DR

    1. I used to do a great impression of Tom Waits doing a cover of "A Place For Us".

I think it's on the Blue Valentine album.

  5. lol Entities. Why can't people just accept the "monster" within? Everything's so much simpler when things are polite.

    1. The monster within..well everyone's different. It is hard when person sees it that's all. Life is disappointing when ideals/ideas from romantic comedies just don't pan out. I mean anything can happen but we all going to die and have loss. Is that a beautiful thing? Yes, but only when you dont take every happiness for granted !

  6. (The professor, in response to the student's drooling inquiries about killing, killing, and more killing)
"While someone might be a psychopath, he wouldn't necessarily by default be a sadist."
Thank you. And neither is a sadist necessarily a psychopath.

  7. Really?

I have only known 1 Sadist in my life. How about a sociopath instead of psychopath?
