A reader asked what I thought about the Craigslist killer (apparently there was a "Lifetime" made for television movie about him this week). I really didn't know much about him or the movie, so I read this review of the movie and was charmed by these sections:
The film delivers the story as a conventional narrative. It might have been more compelling had it been told from inside the head of either the killer or his fiancĂ©e, but Mr. Markoff, at least, apparently didn’t leave much of an explanation for his behavior.I think it is hilarious that (at least in the movie) they are blaming this on the internet rather than trying to take a serious look at possible abnormal psychology reasons for his behavior. It reminds me of the time-honored tradition of blaming bad things on demons or evil spirits rather than admitting what Joseph Conrad understood, that "[t]he belief in a supernatural source of evil is not necessary: men alone are quite capable of every wickedness." We have already met the enemy, we just keep forgetting about it.
“I’m a straight-A medical student,” he tells the police during the initial interrogation after his arrest. “I’m getting married in a month. I mean, would you guys care to explain to me why I would go around and shoot prostitutes in hotel rooms?”
They don’t have an answer, and the filmmakers don’t either; cheesy sound effects are all they can come up with to signal his switch from perfect-man mode to psychopath.
The film’s most compelling moment comes courtesy of William Baldwin, who plays the lead detective on the case. “Used to be able to tell who the bad guys were, right?” his character says to a colleague. “Now it’s all texts and e-mails and Web sites. Creeps are hiding in our own houses, and we don’t even know who they are.”
I think the problem is that people are more ready to blame society's ills on new (and therefore more easily removable) changes in the social structure itself than things that may be embedded in the human mentality. When a problem is as deep-seated as a little-understood mental disorder, what can most people do but throw up their hands and worry? Whereas it is conceptually easy to banish the Internet from your personal sphere of influence.
ReplyDeleteAdmittedly, part of the blame placed on the Internet for really nasty behavior does have some basis in that people feel more free to do nasty things when they can hide behind anonymity, and are supposedly protected from social consequences. However, that kind of goes flying out the window when, instead of stalking or bullying someone, you have an actual dead person lying on your floor. That's not exactly untraceable.
Another, more cynical interpretation of the demonizing of the Internet may simply be that it's the TV networks that speak ill of it the most, and they're trying to reinforce latent fears in the population in order to keep their audience and maintain a competitive balance with newer media.
What's funnier is watching what colleges specializing in the arts consider film-makers walk out from their graduating classes and continue on to produce absolute filth for the remainder of their career. Not to mention the same bar set for writers emerging into the business of cinema.
ReplyDeleteI'd like to see a creative film done on a sociopath, whether he killed or not. The majority (but not all) of directors and writers focus on the action and less on the reason. We're interesting because of the contradiction. The intense control but with impulsive tendencies. The logical thinking but strange rationalizations. The calm but furious.
To the common eye, we are an enigma. Directors and writers who establish this are phenomenal in my view. True artists. Capturing thought and ideas and throwing them back at me in a new and exciting way. We've lost that. Damned "civilization" just wants to see something explode on a screen because they don't have the balls to go out and do it themselves.
Love explosions. I can survive and keep my balls with as many on screen explosions as I want, the more "realistic" the better. But as for the 'brakes' on the curiosity of the true mind I'm with you. Nothing is immune from being passe, even sociopathy agree? The fading Tarantino syndrome. Soon we'll all be fascinated by the quirkiness of being Catholic.
ReplyDeleterandom
ReplyDeleteI agree that it would be fascinating to see a really good film done from a psychological socio view point, not just from an external point of view. I imagine it would be more difficult for a normative empath to create a piece of cinema from a socio viewpoint though. In order for such a foreign view to be portrayed you'd probably need an actual sociopath doing the screenplay because an empath just doesn't have the mindframe for it. From what I gather most socios aren't exactly open about their psychology so there is limited resources when it comes to portraying a truly accurate picture of the socio mind.
ReplyDeleteI'm still open to suggestions of movies to download.
ReplyDeleteI normally don’t pay attention to this type of news, but for some reason, I remember hearing about the Craigslist Killer story when it originally broke. I remember thinking that although this guy was smart enough to get into med school, he was woefully ignorant of digital forensics. My theory is that “Mr. Perfect” held himself back for years, decided to let loose since we’re living in the internet age, didn’t think through the ramifications of said age (like emails and texts being a trail that could lead right back to him if he wasn’t careful), then when it all went to shit he figured a lifetime behind bars wasn’t worth the hassle and killed himself.
ReplyDeleteMost retarded killer to ever live, he left finger prints everywhere. Did you see the chick he shot? Omg, I would have smashed the shit out of that first.
ReplyDeleteThe extreme exploratory play of generation Y? More, much more to come perhaps? Has there been any postulation as such, that the crimes/taboos of today may well be the entertainment/indulgence of tomorrow in a fully deconstructed "self" empowered society?
ReplyDeleteIt’s “bread and circuses” for everybody Gag.
ReplyDeleteThats another way of putting it I suppose. Though it is interesting as a hypotheses. The "crime" being what's caught in the shifts between threshholds. Now where did I read that comment about caffiene intoxication being admissable as a legal plea? How about internet induced dissociation?
ReplyDeleteHeh, Heh, Heh, another of TNP's identities.
ReplyDeleteYet another example of the division between disciplined smart socios and stupid ones.
ReplyDeleteI don't see you on the new buddy. ^
ReplyDelete*news
ReplyDeletelets talk about cops who are psychopaths. i swear these small town cops that give out random tickets because they have nothing else better to do are evil. i can tell by they way they interact, they pull you over and you can feel almost a menacing stare of superiority like they are on a power trip of some sorts. i believe that the police force needs to start profiling their own.
ReplyDeleteThey do to a certain extent with internal affairs. But I'm not sure they're called into small towns unless a cop has killed someone suspiciously.
ReplyDeleteSo perhaps complain a lot to the next major city that would have IA. Make up stuff, like you've been maced or tazed just for talking back or not understanding. Make up a new identity (and wait the appropriate times between calling) between each complaint.
We're sociopaths. There's always a manipulative solution to every problem.
I've been reading a lot about Amanda Knox. She definitely knows how to play the media. The funny thing is that all these people think she's innocent, because she looks like a angel. Instead of listening to the facts in the case they listen to her version.
ReplyDeletePeople, at least in the U.S., want a motive. They don't get that she doesn't have a normal motive.
You can't explain these things to people because they cannot accept it. But I'd imagine you're already aware of that.
ReplyDeleteTyler Weinman charges dropped, cat kill goes free.
ReplyDelete@ ukan, so you're saying she's a psychopath?
ReplyDeletei think she was driven by jealousy, the victim was exotic and beautiful while she was just pretty. hell hath no fury like a scorned woman. and hell hath no fury like a woman envious of another woman. i stay away from my jealous female friends. they are wolves in sheeps clothing.
"the heart of man is desperately wicked, who can know it"- bible
I don't think it had anything to do with jealousy. Meredith was a prude girl. Amanda Knox had multiple men over to the point where Meredith was complaining. I think Meredith tried to complain that halloween night and Amanda decided to humiliate her by having her friends rape her at her behest, while she and her boyfriend held a knife to her. She and her boyfriend were into some violent sexual shit. It makes perfect sense. The neighbors heard a scream. She probably screamed during the rape and they plugged her so she wouldn't give it away.
ReplyDeleteTo answer the other question, she is a psychopath. There is no doubt in my mind on that.
to get back to topic; i think there is some argument for the internet and tv being a bad influence by desensitizing people slightly, but i think the bigger consideration is simply that people now feel more free to be as bad as they want, but when they are caught it is pubicized more.
ReplyDeleteDarn! that obviously didn't work!
ReplyDeleteHas anyone seen The Killer Inside Me, as a film with a psychopath narrative?
ReplyDeleteI just watched it last night
ReplyDeleteEver since I was a wee kid I always wondered why movies and TV were never done from the point of view of a sociopath/criminal/murderer. Always thought it would be more interesting to me that way, and I always found myself relating more to/sympathizing with the 'bad guy' for some reason, even though I don't really consider myself a sociopath.
ReplyDeleteFinally Dexter came along and I was all yay! But Dexter is disappointing, and made to be too nice (i.e. his 'code') and unrealistic (dead father's ghost? Come on. What's really going on in his head without it having to be filtered through some quasi-guardian angel?) so that a normal audience could swallow his crimes.
Still waiting. I guess there was American Psycho, but that was so superficial and of course he gets his at the end like they always do.
Always fucking morals everywhere.
Ukan & oucwhea, how was it? That's another film I considered going to see but didn't.
ReplyDeleteMedusa, what do you mean Bateman gets his in the end? The ending I remember is him sitting in a posh restaurant, confessing his crimes and no one believing him or giving a shit and him seeming pretty non-plussed by it.
Daniel, actually I have no idea what I'm talking about. I just remember him having a paranoia breakdown and in my head that's where it ended.
ReplyDeleteYou are right though. That was the best part and I had totally forgotten about it.
Regardless, my point stands. The movie was too stylized, superficial and Hollywooded to be taken seriously, even though I did enjoy it.
I do think Bret Easton Ellis is probably a sociopath, though. Anyone else have thoughts about him?
And nice to see you Daniel.
This comment has been removed by the author.
ReplyDeleteHeh, whatever gets you of, imposter notme.
ReplyDeleteI was just watching the news and there was a story about a 10 year old boy who shot and killed his mother because she asked him to do some chores. I'd like to see an interview with this child, but it's probably not going to happen on account of his age.
A film from a psychopaths perspective: A Clockwork Orange.
ReplyDeletePat bateman owns Dexter, don't even compare them. The Dexter show is trying to humanize serial killers, it's lame.
ReplyDeleteWhy would you want to see an interview with that degenerate?
ReplyDeleteWe all wanted to shoot a family member once or twice, thankfully we weren't as stupid as this kid.
Psychopaths can have psychotic breaks, although they generally never lose touch with reality, they can go into a frenzy of violence.
ReplyDeleteThat's why it's important for these parents to get their children checked up if they aren't showing any warmth towards others, you could be next.
I have no idea why women stick around narcissists, they are the most irritating vile douche bags on the planet. Those women deserve a huge slap.
ReplyDelete"Why would you want to see an interview with that degenerate?"
ReplyDeleteHis mother was the degenerate. She bought him the gun as a christmas present.
"I have no idea why women stick around narcissists, they are the most irritating vile douche bags on the planet."
ReplyDeleteWhy did you stick around?
The movie was boring. A artsy fartsy mix of sex and violence. Its pretty hard to make that combo boring, but this film succeeded.
ReplyDeleteI didn't, hence why I'm saying this.
ReplyDelete"The movie was boring. A artsy fartsy mix of sex and violence. Its pretty hard to make that combo boring, but this film succeeded."
ReplyDeleteA Clockwork Orange or American Psycho?
Nice to “see” you too Medusa.
ReplyDeleteAnd I agree, the movie was very stylized, especially compared to the book. I was about 16 when I read the novel and I remember being so fascinated. It was my first time. I’d never read anything about a fictional serial killer up till that point and it was so graphic. There’s a scene in the book involving Bateman using a nail gun and mace on one of his victims that really sticks out in my memory. To this day I’m not quite sure how I feel about that scene. Needless to say, it was not in the movie.
I don’t know enough about Ellis to comment on whether he should be considered sociopathic. I’ll have to look into it though. There was an article in the NY Times about Patricia Highsmith. It basically implies that the reason she was able to write Tom Ripley so convincingly was because he was a male version of herself.
Misanthrope, I’ve seen A Clockwork Orange and it was enjoyable. It makes me wonder though how other people see a film a like that. Are they horrified or fascinated or both or neither? (Rhetorical question.)
Thanks Ukan and anon. I won't bother with it then.
ReplyDeleteMisanthrope, I assume they are referring to The Killer Inside Me.
what about astrology and psychopaths. i have found that most sociopaths are water signs, cancers, pisces, scorpios. i have found that malignant narcissists are virgos and gemini's. if i had to pick five signs i would rather die than date? virgo, gemini, cancer, capricorn, and maybe libra because it's the sign right after virgos. yes virgos are that bad, and complete and utter narcissists.
ReplyDeleteI saw Clockwork Orange when I was still in High School and I still have nightmares.
ReplyDeleteWhat about narciccist douche bag women, is their anything worth knowing there?
narcissist women exhibit the same behavior as narcissist men, only difference is sexuality
ReplyDeleteNarcissistic men sometimes hate sex, once they have sex with a girl who they think is "nice", that girl becomes a whore in the narcissists mind.
ReplyDeletethis I know:
ReplyDeleteSeriously? If so... well, there's nothing to say I guess. I don't know why I still find these kinds of reactions so fascinating.
so are men who get bored with women after sleeping with them a couple of times then start avoiding them or break up with them narcissists?
ReplyDeleteNo, those are called males.
ReplyDelete(Astrology and ASPD? from Anon's post)
ReplyDeleteYes, the antisocials that come to my mind most quickly are a psycho/socio scorpio; a socio/narc gemini; and possible, young psycho/socio, definitely narc virgo.
I'd like to see more discussion on this.
Well I know how I felt about it never had to guess. Even the scene where they kept his eyes open to watch the films made me feel sick.
ReplyDeleteIf I see someone get hurt say fall or or get hit I have pain shot thru my body.
We're all made differently and don't get the choice to chose when it comes to our initial reaction.
I find I can endure pain easier then see it happen to someone else.
It's just not a choice.
I'm a Cancer, my ex is a Cancer, his ex (whom he called a malig-narc, and is now my friend) is a Gemini.
ReplyDeletePopular astrology is too open-ended to mean much of anything except in a very vague sense. Would have to be more specific as to birth time/dates for it to have much use, even if it was worth taking seriously.
I do see value in patterns, though. Whether they are manifested/interpreted through astrology or otherwise, they are there.
Only things I remember from Clockwork Orange was the raping of an old lady with a gigantic penis, and Beethoven's 9th. I don't like seeing old people being abused. Everyone else... whatever.
Do you actually believe in astrology? Lol.
ReplyDeleteYes, Medusa, making assessments based on someone's birthday is vague, but so is attempting to make an assessment based on the rate of hair growth, too. LOL.
ReplyDeleteI just find the collection of these patterns somewhat interesting.
Besides, it makes for better conversation than some of the stuff that's been floating through here lately.
Subtract the word too from the end of that first paragraph and it'll be better.
ReplyDeleteAnything Kubrick did was weird. Interesting maybe but freaky…even 2001.
ReplyDelete"Do you actually believe in astrology? Lol."
ReplyDeleteI second that Lol.
Any weight loss in your future fatty?
ReplyDeleteSociopath is an android. Kubrick's A.I.
ReplyDeleteThat makes sense Gag.
ReplyDeleteDoes anyone like the movie Basic Instinct? Or was it junk?
2001 will always be one of my favorites. Kubrick allowed a direct connection to a non-fathomable core. As does Lynch.
ReplyDeleteThat's an artist.
Yes, Medusa, making assessments based on someone's birthday is vague, but so is attempting to make an assessment based on the rate of hair growth, too. LOL.
ReplyDeleteOkay, I'm a sociopath, lack of empathy, fighting, smear campaigns blah blah blah, and my hair grows twice as quick as anyone i have known, it's just a complete co incidence right? Lol.
Laughing out loud
ReplyDeleteI actually wrote a short story from the narrative point of a sociopath. Most of my stuff is mild sci-fi (that's the only term I can use since it isn't full blown in outer space sci-fi), but this was obviously much easier.
ReplyDeleteIt was interesting to see that as I wrote about fiction mixed with actual experiences unfolding onto a made-up character, the story seemed like a rationalization. I was taking everything the main character did and said with no filters, but when you get to take a look inside of his head it's all justified. I think it was the best way to get the point across.
There's no actual "inner voice" narrative, much like you would see in Dexter. But his actions and methods of behavior display my intention for the reader pretty clearly. It was something I've always wanted a director and writer to pull off.
Answer my question?
ReplyDeletefor a movie where a sociopath cleverly and coldly manipulates people in order to commit mass murder and then gets away with it... try Arlington Road
ReplyDeletei always kinda assumed socios were more or less immune to bullshit like religion and astrology, as there is a more objective assessment of life and evidence - no clouding by emotions or subconscious need to be part of a community that believes the same crap.
Salo - 120 days of sodom.
ReplyDeletesocio types seem to occur very frequently in sci-fi. mr spock, the replicants in bladerunner etc. pretty sure i would fail the voigt-kampff test :)
ReplyDeleteProbing the limits of acceptance. Starts with the parents, other kids, girlfriends..now cyberspace. Since when has that been any different for each generation spawned? It's the audience and their inconsistencies thats degenerate. Inconsistencies only fly with the unconscious of the lot. The few conscious will always spot it straightaway. The degenerates' way of resolving anything is to blame/punish (or blind themselves) the symptoms and call it the cause.

ReplyDelete@aerianne
ReplyDeletewhy the sudden profile privacy?
are people still on the hair growth rate thing!? actually i would consider myself to have a very fast metabolism, perhaps that includes hair growth. pros and cons... i have to eat every 4 hours in the day and i'm warm in a t-shirt when everyone else is cold with 3 layers on.
ReplyDeleteanyone similar?
One needs to separate astrology and the like from it's new-age and community-based connotations.
ReplyDeleteIt's merely a way of recognizing inherent patterns, tendencies, universalities, and truths like many other things, and not just religion.
We pick and choose the ones that make more personal sense for each of us, but it's all the same. To denigrate anything based off of superficial aspects and surrounding factors is the sign of a small mind.
The problem is when any of these modes of seeing the macrocosm are taken too literally, as we have seen with most religion. Blind to the unfathomable core from which they are birthed.
or a captcha test ;-)
ReplyDeleteThe degenerates' way of resolving anything is to blame/punish (or blind themselves) the symptoms and call it the cause.
ReplyDeleteYay.
Also, average hair growth is 1/2" a month. I highly doubt any of you socios have ever got around to sticking a measuring tape to your scalp in any sort of scientific manner.
@medusa
ReplyDeletei thought you were a scientist? there is masses of evidence that can be used to analyse potential correlation between personality types and birthdays. the army for example has all the data for anyone who enlists and i remember reading that the japanese army released this data (along with blood type which is widely believed to influence personality type there) for analysis.
result: no correlation.
also many independent studies.
do you ever look for evidence or do you just think your hunches are good enough to evaluate what should influence your life decisions?
i buzz my own hair. my buzzer has notches in increments of 3mm. i have made a mental note of my hair growth rate and it is just over 3mm per week.
ReplyDeleteI'm not a scientist by trade.
ReplyDeleteAlso, personality types with regards to astrology is bunk in my opinion.
It's about tendencies, in my world. Not 'personalities'. Like the so-called sociopathic gene, for instance. Things can go any which way depending on factors too numerous to count.
Just because we have a magnetic North doesn't mean that all magnetic metals are going to end up crowded around the North Pole like iron filaments.
Terrible analogy, but you get my point.
.5" (average hair growth per month) = 12.7mm
ReplyDelete12.7mm / 30 (days) = .42mm (per day)
.42mm x 7 (days per week) = 2.96 mm (per week).
Your hair growth is average.
Obviously you aren't a scientist, either ;)
read the paper i linked to and then answer the most important and interesting question:
ReplyDeletewhen confronted with evidence contradicting your opinion, do you
1. dig your heels in, get defensive, keep your opinion, and re-use arguments in future that you have been shown are fallacious.
2. recognise the human psychological tendency to do 1 and re-evaluate your position based on your own research that sprang from the arguments and evidence presented to you.
lol where did i claim my hair growth was higher than average?
ReplyDeletei gave you the info as you suggested no-one had measured theirs.
i would consider myself to have a very fast metabolism, perhaps that includes hair growth
ReplyDeletewv = immunsin (immune to logic = sin)
I never measured my own, but it's around 7 mm per week. People are stunned at how quick it grows.
ReplyDeletei can see your confusion and i admit i wasn't entirely clear, but i never had an opinion on whether my hair grows faster than normal or not. now i know it is average.
ReplyDeleteyou've kinda dodged my question: is it 1 or 2?
Sorry, I figured it was rhetorical.
ReplyDeleteBest answer = 1 + 2
Hunches don't come out of vacuums.
arrgh lost a comment to the spam filter methinks...
ReplyDeletecan't be arsed re-typing.
could you just answer:
"do you ever look for evidence or do you just think your hunches are good enough to evaluate what should influence your life decisions?"
See above.
ReplyDeleteso you don't look for actual evidence. figured.
ReplyDeletegotta go - catch you another time. in the meantime google scholar can be your friend.
Boy, your math skills are off.
ReplyDeleteOh well.
Ahhh Madusa crapped out. Couldn;t think of anything, but thats the problem she usually types first
ReplyDeletethinks later.
or maybe she's use to no listening.
This comment has been removed by the author.
ReplyDeleteLol, and these 'sociopaths' claim they are so superior in the logic department. Way more attached to desired outcomes than the actual logic it takes to get there. Talk about self-delusion.
ReplyDeleteNarcs. Hilarious.
wv: proppimp
Did he died?
ReplyDeleteLols and lols.
ReplyDeleteYep, as expected, DidHeDiedGuy, he done dieded.
Then why do you spen so much time on here when you feel you are so much more intellegent then the S/P?
ReplyDeleteComing from a self proclaimed Narc/Aspie I guess everyone is out numbered by the shere amount of personalities that make up your whole person Madusa.
Res, my blog has turned private because I'm using it for genealogy.
ReplyDeleteNever said I was more intelligent than socios. I am, however, more intelligent than idiots.
ReplyDeleteAnd I have never proclaimed/owned any specific disorder. If you think I have, you need to learn to be more observant.
I thought socios were proud of their many external personalities.... so I can only assume a jealousy on your part when you try to denigrate my "shere[sic] amount of personalities", as you see it.
Just the fact that you feel the need to store and regurgitate information about me, and attempt to use said information in an illogical manner to tear me down, speaks for itself.
ReplyDeleteNaptime.
we're not talking about some lame astrology that's in newspapers like daily horoscopes and all that other nonsense. i'm talking about inherit patterns common to all people born during a birthday period, for instance
ReplyDeleteCANCERS: intuitive, emotional, mean, love food, take long showers because they like water, men are feminine in personality but try to act masculine outwardly, talk or have conversations in their head or talk to themselves, says one thing but does another, which is why the author of this website is a cancer and a sociopath, most cancers are sociopaths, most cancers can be found in prison because of their uncontrollable emotions that and impulses. cancers are very good with money, give your money to a cancer to save for you and he will have a million dollars saved. he is the best bank account to have. cancers love to cuddle, hug, they are needy and they are users. they will use you until you realize you are being played. they are expert manipulators. Cancers are highly intelligent, like to collect things include various women, likes to act aloof when they're even more observant than a virgo. they pathological liars, cheaters. but again it's 50/50 with a cancer, you either get a sociopath or an honest individual who will care for you
GEMINI: talk you to death, they like to play with people's head. they are cheaters and liars, selfish, and backstabbers.
CAPRICORN: cold, callous, dark, stingy with money, pretentious, stuck up. climb their way to the top of any ladder by any means neccessary.
VIROG: Narcissists, they're motto is me, myself, and I. they are worst than sociopaths because the men can be impulsively violent. most virgos grew up in a dysfunctional home. virgos are liers and sneaky. cancer and virgos are two sides of the same coin but cancer is slightly better. virgos are very, very, cheap. if your friend's apartment is furnished with IKEA,he's probably a virgo. virgos don't know how to communicate. they are self destruction and seek any type of attention even if it's negative because of their me, myself and I motto. Charlie Sheen ring a bell?
these are all patterns and behavior you will find with anyone born under this sign. no horoscopes bull. this is truth.
I'm a scorpio. :D
ReplyDeleteword - buttsob
Anon, what do you know about aquarius people?
ReplyDeletei know a leo narc, a leo ASPD, and a sagitarius ASPD. (both fire signs).
HavenNyx and I are both aquarius and BPD, although different. So, patterns??? ;D
I know that aquarius is supposed to be the most unpredictable of the zodiac.
that's all i know. Astrology seems hit and miss to me.
Charles Manson and Ted Bundy are Scorpio.
ReplyDeleteAquarians: my ex was an aquarian. you guys are air signs. air signs are highly intelligent. specifically, aquarians are new age philosophers if you will, they are unconventional, they do not go by trends. If you see someone dressed with holes in thier clothes like their shirt, or socks and worn out shoes, he's most likely an aquarian. they are cold, quiet at times, don't like to show alot of emotion. i suspected my aquarian ex was a pyschopath, at least i told him he was. some are evil, some are not.
ReplyDeleteLEOS: fire sign, only sign i know that you will hate but also love or you will love but also hate. the women act dumb and ditzy but the women are more intelligent and cunning than they pretend to be. the men are intelligent, playful. leos like most fire signs, "like to win" which is a recipe for sociopathic tendencies. leos are generally or by nature kind, warm smart, loving, cheaters, prone to sticky fingers or stealing in their youth. Bill Clinton and Obama.
I had an Aquarius ex. Was the longest-lasting and most relatively stable relationship so far, which isn't saying much.
ReplyDeleteHe was outwardly completely unemotional, passionless, and without ambition to the point where I was bored by him and questioned his intelligence. But Zen-ish, which I liked. And yes yes, always egregious holes in his clothing.
An anonymous poster claimed that smear campaigns are part of a sociopath's personality.
ReplyDeleteIs this true?
Scorpios?
ReplyDeleteMy best friend is Leo.
ReplyDeleteLove/hate cycles with her over the years. Definitely comes off as dumb and ditzy to most people, but she's actually one of the most intelligent people I've ever known. It throws people off. Used to be a pathological liar and cheater (not on people, though), not so much anymore.
But I still have to take all these descriptions with a grain of salt. While much of it is very accurate in my experience, and not in a vague way, at the same time it's easy to read anything into anything. Plus, there's all the stuff about how rising signs are more important than sun signs et al... too many factors to consider.
lol, yes! holes in my clothes and shoes!! i'm not even poor, just weird. My dad gets appalled at my apathy in that department and rushes me out to get new, expensive clothes - i'm like, 'i'm fiiinnne!'
ReplyDeleteAs for the rest, i'm very emotional. can be hot and cold. Loud or silent. extremes basically. blah blah. Some have called me cold, but i suspect it's a facade or something. My brother is also aquarius and i've called him blackhearted before. He's a grade A arsehole.:)
leos and aquarians are polar opposite on the zodiac, and i have an intense love/hate relationship with them.
having said all that, it's not always accurate. Apparently, i'm supposed to be a master of technology, yeah right.
Anon, my friend who is deeply involved in astrology said to me that Scorpio is the most vindictive sign.
ReplyDeleteFUCK, that anon took my name - what a wanker?
ReplyDelete^^^^ that was me, notme.
scorpios are water signs. everything about cancers applies to scorpios except scorpios try to act passionate and fiery like leos but they aren't as deep and masculine as leos. like i said. water signs(pisces, cancers, scorpios) are the blueprints of sociopathy and psychopathy. and virgos are evil, malignant narcissist, neurotic, psychotic, nut jobs.
ReplyDeleteAll of you people are fucking idiots.
ReplyDeleteSigh.
the most vindictive is virgo. scorpio and capricorn is a close second.
ReplyDeleteEarth signs(virgos, capricorns and tauruses for all their down to earthness are the least down to earth people. earth signs are so vindictive because they get people to either A) do thier dirty work for them or B)if they do it themselves, they are sneaky and you won't even know they are plotting against you. earth signs are very manipulative and would give a cancer or scorpio a run for their money for most manipulative and vindictive
Put two Cancers together and BOOOM nuclear explosion of the worst kind. As has been my experience.
ReplyDeleteA Scorpio I dated is very similar to me in the way his mind works, but outwardly pretty different. He has public sulky temper tantrums like a toddler does. It's always awkward being around him; nothing ever seems natural or comfortable, and he's so uncomfortable with himself around women that he comes off as rude at times.
haha Post, i don't really believe in it. But the self-obsessed narc in me likes it.
ReplyDeleteI do wish astrology didn't exist to be honest, too much of a pointless distraction. My mum is obsessed with it, she's also obsessed with not letting me walk under ladders and shit like that.
I do it to piss her off and she hates it. CRAZY!!!
Post, what star sign are you? tell me pleeeeeeasee!it's just lame fun.
it's notme btw. I don't know what that anon did but i can't put my name in anymore. ANON YOU WANKER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I'm a Virgo.
ReplyDeletehehe, narcy, psycho virgo!!
ReplyDeletethis anon is really into this stuff. Interesting how they're focusing on the negatives.
this got boring very fast.
yes Medusa, that was my whole point. the patterns and behaviors are too distinctive to dismiss as foolis, or hogwash, or fairy tale astrology.
ReplyDeleteyou will save yourself alot of emotional turmoil, confrontations, heart ache, etc.. by knowing the sign of the person you are dealing with. whether it's your lover, or boss, or friend or family, it gives you an advantage of understanding the person better and knowing how to deal with them. and like everything else in life, there is always an exception to every rule.
Awesome, now people can't type in a name so it's going to be anonymous and blogger accounts.
ReplyDeleteME must be starting to clamp down on the crap posting.
Maybe anonymous posters will be blocked next.
The spamming has really gotten too out of hand with the threats of violence against posters.
If everybody that posts has to have a blogger account then the threats will be traceable.
Yay.
positive of each sign:
ReplyDeleteCancers: will give you the shirt off their back if you are in trouble
Scorpios: actually have a caring, tender side. shocking isn't it?
Pisces: will give you the shirt off their back, humanitarians of the zodiac
Virgos: they like to serve, not with money because they are cheap as hell and although they are know it alls, they will help you and give you the shirt of your back
Leos: hands down the most caring, generous, warm hearted, trustworthy sign, love to have a good time
Capricorns: nice and helpful
Geminis: love to have fun, the life of the party second only to leos, they are aslo helpful and because they talk too much but are intelligent, they are apt to give you the best advice
how is it awesome when i can't type my name in! Some douchebag is being a douchebag, taking my name.
ReplyDeleteANON, 8.23, it's probably you.
Fess up! Be a man. ;D
notme
Oh, yeah, that's weird. Only the Blogger login and the Anonymous options work properly now. Very exciting.
ReplyDeleteAnon 8.26, bullshit. I'm all of those things.
ReplyDeletenotme
Gee, there is some high brow discussion here today.~
ReplyDeleteI'll play. Why not: Aquarius.
That is soooo me medusa. Scorpios temper is fucking boss
ReplyDeleteWhy do some folks say scorpios are the bad apples of the star signs?
ReplyDeleteYay pythias - we must be the same in almost every way!!! ;)
ReplyDeletenotme
Indeed, notme. Indeed.
ReplyDeleteI have to teach at 8am tomorrow and I would really rather just get paid to stay in bed.
ReplyDeleteAstrology? Really? Reaaallly? Wow. I've probably skipped more comments today than ever before.
ReplyDeleteShall we rattle some bones while we're at it, or look for signs in the tea leaves? Maybe sacrifice a farm animal and inspect the entrails? This has to the the SW all-time low.
Notable, what star sign are you? Play along.
ReplyDelete:D
I know, TNP, and I'm trying really hard to avoid work. :) Can you bring some distraction to the comments section?
ReplyDeleteTNP you should go back to your blog where it's interesting.
ReplyDeleteThis comment has been removed by the author.
ReplyDeleteNo, I won't play along and further this stream of worthless shit.
ReplyDeleteOk, Pythias. Here's a scenario I think we've all played in our heads. Pick a person, fictional or real, that you want to kill. How would you go about doing it, how would you dispose of the body, and what would be your alibi?
Oh fun! But I'm going to go with my second way down in case I ever need the first. :)
ReplyDeleteWhat's your answer?
You are an idiot TNP.
ReplyDeleteI would choose Lady Peacock in the library with the candlestick!
ReplyDeleteMan. Maybe you should go to your blog with the murder topic.
ReplyDeleteIt's true that your rising sign is more what you put forth for others to see of your behavior. Your moon sign is more of how you see or know yourself.
ReplyDeleteYour north node will show you what you should be working toward in your life and your south node shows what tendencies you should be striving to leave behind.
Agreed, Pythias. First case scenario is out of the question for use.
ReplyDeleteHm, how about this. The burial site is out in the desert/reservation wasteland, previously dug, and way off the beaten path.
Go to a Podunk bar, sap a drunk, quickly restrain and gag him/her, throw um in the trunk and drive to the site. If they're unconscious by the time you get there, there's a high chance they've sustained massive brain damage already, sort of a joy-kill. If they're not, game on. Throw them into the grave and bury them alive, slowly, until you can't hear the muffled yelling anymore. Finish it up ASAP, smooth out the area, and then go camping :)
Gotta love the great outdoors.
TNP I hope that's a fantasy and that you aren't serious because that's the stupidest thing I've ever heard.
ReplyDeleteIt's full of ways that you'd be caught.
Of course it is. It's a thrill kill, not the perfect crime.
ReplyDeletewell, i'd hire a hitman and flee the country for a while.
ReplyDeleteOr i'd fess up and say, yeah, i did it, and he effing deserved it!
Or i'd think on my feet and plead innocence.
It would depend wholly on my mood/state of mind.
there you go.
notme
wv - ovencest (or i'd stick his head in the oven)
Ovencest.
ReplyDeleteRule 34 commencing in T-Minus...
Hey M.E.,
ReplyDeleteI was just wondering (though I probably should watch the movie first to know its context), but isn't the internet a problem? I mean, to have everything written, edited, without any associations to the slipped expressions on a face or emotions in a voice, doesn't it complicate recognizing someone "different" (or really, complicate trying to read anyone at all)?
...Although, I guess, it doesn't have to even be a slip up or laziness (I think either you or a commenter mentioned it in a previous post).
_
Anon - what exactly are referring to? This blog, the commenters here?
ReplyDeleteIt's been mentioned in the past that spending exorbitant amounts of time communicating online greatly reduces empathy in that facet of digital communication.
ReplyDeleteIts just as easy on the internet.
ReplyDeleteUKan
No, I won't play along and further this stream of worthless shit.
ReplyDeleteLOLS lols lolz Lolllllllllllll
WTF do you think this ENTIRE blog is already? And yours?
No more worthwhile than astrology when it comes down to it.
No offense meant at all, I like it all, I just found your comment funny.
i've been on here for yonks and i still feel the same.
ReplyDeletenotme
I feel so completely utterly different than I did when I first arrived.
ReplyDeleteCompletely.
Credit goes where credit is due, though.
i mean in terms of empathy. Notable was talking about empathy being dulled etc.
ReplyDeleteIn terms of my thinking, yes it's been very, very, very, very, very useful! :)
notme
P.S. I think the username thing is probably a glitch. If it wasn't, there wouldn't be a Name/URL radio button available at all.
ReplyDeleteOh yah, notme, in terms of empathy things are no different.
ReplyDeleteYou know, guns don't kill people....etc. etc.
maybe that anon entering a link as my name earlier today caused it to mess up.
ReplyDeletenotme
that's wonderful that you've gained from being here Medusa.
ReplyDeleteSo have I.
Amen to that! and to M.E of course! and everyone else here.
:)notme
I only have myself to thank :)
ReplyDeleteDo you get off on being an aimlessly, argumentative bitch or something?
ReplyDeleteWhat do I think this blog is? A source of information and an avenue to have dialog on sociopathy and related topics. Perhaps you didn't read the sign when you walked in.
Perhaps you think it the Off-Topic section of a forum, or something, where your often vacuous, irrelevant spew is welcome, along with your commentary that often leads to no point other than playing Commander Contrarian and talking about your dreary, depressing life, and how awesome you think you are, you nauseating whore.
Your own insecurities bleed and form a scab of your worthless, irritable existence.
Your luck numbers are 3, 14, 27, 9, 18
oh my god Notable, who ARE you talking to?
ReplyDeletenotme
Do you get off on being an aimlessly, argumentative bitch or something?
ReplyDeleteYes, yes I do, when the recipient is a bit of a douche at times.
As to the rest... are you sure you aren't a girl? Because it seems you are on the rag yet again.
Do you take the short-bus to troll school? That was horribly ineffectual. How disappointing.
ReplyDeleteDemons.
ReplyDeleteThat is all.
One must remember to not fornicate during a full moon, lest they risk having a child born with demon, at the risk of Aspergers!
ReplyDeleteI really have to track that site down. It was a classic. I wonder if there is a similarly themed one for ASPD.
hey no one's back.
ReplyDeleteThat is all.
notme
(btw, how did you enter your name, mine's not working)
Blog is back to normal again, notme.
ReplyDeleteDemons, astrology, psychology, empathy, morals, etc... all interpretations of the same thing.
btw, i totally fucked up yesterday's plan to stay awake to pay my overdue rent. I fell asleep seconds after i wrote that comment. So, i'm PLANNING to achieve it this time. I've become utterly noncturnal during the holidays. fuckety-fuck fuck.
ReplyDeletenotme
no medusa, mine's still not working. oh it is.
haha, wv is 'hyper' - that's just uncanny
now my name's all colourful for some reason. fine. :DDDD
ReplyDeletenah, it's still malfunctioning actually.
test
ReplyDeleteYer right. It's being a bit bipolar.
ReplyDeleteIn the meantime
"Drink Mr Pibb. It doesn't pretend to be a doctor, unlike some drinks."
ReplyDeleteCode Monkeys has its moments.
lol. Actually, that's certainly a way of spicing up one's life.
ReplyDeleteI don't know how i'd be able to carry that off. I wonder what my second life might be?...hmm...
...well HELLOOOOO?!?!? TheNotablePath-to knowhere might i add is a damn VIRGO!!!! VIRGOS bitch and moan about the stupidest little things and the stupidest minute details in life while missing the grand scheme of things. they have OCD, and are very neurotic. they mental and crazy which is why he's a self diagnosed sociopath. but what he really is a Malignant Narcissistic Sociopath which is ten times worse than a regular ole sociopath. for all their mental attributes, yes VIRGO'S are IDIOTS. Virgos argue blindly and the reason why he has a problem with astrology is because it nails him down to a T. marry a virgo and you will die a thousand deaths. it is hands down the worst sign in the zodiac!!. date a virgo....well you need to run do not walk to the nearest exit. VIRGO MEN are WOMEN trapped in a MAN's BODY. they are even more girly than the femine cancer. VIRGOS are horrible horrible people. a Virgo will see you get hit by a car but will worry more about your mismatched clothing attire than your life. they are self obessed, self deluded, OCD FREAKS!!!!. they are overly dramatic, and pathological liars and cheap, cheap, cheap!!, they take cheapness to a whole new level. VIRGO, worst human being you'll ever come across. with a virgo, everything will be your fault, they never take responsibilty for their faults, they find a way to blame you for everything wrong. never build a family life with a VIRGO like marrying one, because he will care more about his sister or brother than he does his own wife! and kids! VIRGOS are mean and cruel, TheNotablePath-a VIRGO. YIKES!
ReplyDeleteGood link medusa
ReplyDeleteAnon at 4:51, how did you find out Not Able's birth date?
ReplyDeleteVirgos are fussy, hypercritical, harsh, conservative, overly-fastidious, overly-conventional, finicky, perfectionists, worriers, and bores.
ReplyDeleteThink of the most uptight old biddy you know and that's Virgo.
Too bad I'm not a virgo. Keep trying :)
ReplyDeleteNotable, i'd guess, cancer or aries.
ReplyDeleteI'm purely testing my 'psychic' skills here. So please say if i'm right.
Cheers.
i don't have to, your self diagnosis says it all......:-)
ReplyDeleteand it has nothing to do with my knowledge of these signs, since i have none. just a guessing game for the hell of it.
ReplyDeleteBeing a bit (a lot?) of a narcissist why isn't anyone talking about Sagittarius?! Jerks.
ReplyDeleteAlso, those explanations are total BS. They are made so that they can apply to anyone. Read about the fucking barnum effect retards.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Barnum_effect
Lolz 4:51
ReplyDelete11:06 said that already. Without need for wiki article.
Anon4:51, Anon7:15, Anon7:48

wv- densic Lols lols lols
I don't hide behind the moniker of "Anoymous". I say what I want to say, openly.
ReplyDeleteLols @ paranoid anons playing detective.
ReplyDeleteNone of them are me, either.
Anon 3:08, everyone is over on the next day's post discussing astrology. Why not come and join?
ReplyDeleteWhy did you check back to the post and so quickly.
ReplyDeleteI say the arrows hit their mark
BULLSEYE
All new comments, since last time I read, come up on my reader.
ReplyDeleteWhy do you keep checker back? Obviously not because you have new posts on your reader.
*checking
ReplyDeleteAnonymous at 4:51 a.m., your overwrought rant about Virgos sounds like you are talking about my ex, to a T.
ReplyDeleteSpeaking of the Internet, I read a blog recently about Psychopathy and Narcissism (well, the blog's named related to Narcissism, but it came up as a result when I did a Google search on Psychopathy blogs).
ReplyDeleteThe author writes about how psychopaths (or mainly Sociopaths ... I think) are crowding the Internet and doing so much harm, which is obviously their intent right from the beginning.
This is just another of these statements about psychopaths and sociopaths that are heavily loaded with hidden 'magical thinking': We're all evil by our very nature, and that's all there is to it.
I see over and over readers commenting on blogs, websites, fora, Youtube, i.e., stating that: "Psychopaths/sociopaths are just born evil, it's that simple!", and "They should be killed/incarcerated" and so on.
The problem I'm having after realizing I do fit some of the criteria is that this is not necessarily a disorder, it's a personality type and we need not be evil because of it.
Under different circumstances and different times in history many of the things and characteristics 'Empaths' claim to be 'good' and 'right' would be deemed evil.
It's the same old story, M.E., :)
Ah, this is not a good way to comment, using a Google account. Your blog doesn't show unless you have a profile there.
ReplyDeleteHello would you mind letting me know which webhost you're utilizing? I've loaded your
ReplyDeleteblog in 3 completely different internet browsers and I must say this blog loads a lot faster then most.
Can you suggest a good hosting provider at a fair price?
Cheers, I appreciate it!
