The Little Prince

It would not be much of an exaggeration to say that most of what I learned about relationships in my younger years came from watching this movie.

  1. I have never watched this. Thanks for posting. I will definitely have to watch it.

  2. If you can, try the book - it's by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry.

Some say "The little prince" is a novel, though I consider the book a philosophical one.

As for me, I will try to see the movie.

  3. Did anyone else see solitary man?

  4. The composure of the prince for someone so young is certainly freaky. Kinda reminds remind me of Hollywood child actors and some of the kids these days. By the time they reach their 20's god know what kind of psychological baggage they'd be carryin...and how they would've learnt how to numb themselves by then.

The nonchalant demeanour of the five 20's somethin US soldiers toyin with afghan civilian victims comes to mind.

  6. Did you have that emotional moment of "YAY!" whenever you succeeded? I learned how to tame a feral cat who sneaked into my house using info gleaned from this scene. It worked phenomenally well, and it was like a religious experience when he finally allowed me to pet him.

  7. That is fucking creepy. Looks like there are some serious pedofilia undertones! Gene Wilder has always been creepy, even when he was in Willie and Wonka and the Chocolate Factory.
    Explains a lot!

  8. I second that Ammy,
Anyone want to enlighten us mere empaths.

  9. Ammy and Wish, what were the pedophilia undertones?

  10. Like I said I'm unenlighted. Took it at face value.

  11. The Little Prince is a classic piece of literature, written in 1943; translated into 190 languages and having sold more than 80 Million copies. It is rich in allegories and far deeper than anyone thinking Gene Wilder is creeyp.
If you'd like to begin to understand the book, start here:

  12. Yes I am quite aware of the book and just because it's a classic doesn't mean it doesn't have pedophelic overtones!
Just my opinion and just because we understand it differently doesn't make either of us wrong.
There's a great deal of symbolism and allegories that are very pedophilic in the book. Just sayin'.
You'd be surprised at the true meaning of some of these classics.

  13. "Just my opinion and just because we understand it differently doesn't make either of us wrong."

Except that your understanding of it is wrong. I can't find a single reference in the book that suggests pedophilia unless you project it on the book yourself.

  14. Okay whatever! Typical of this site, if one doesn't agree, then the insults start flying.
    But you are still wrong.

  15. lol, i thought it was creepy too. to begin with gene's creepily intense eyes (sorry gene) don't mix well with the references to taming and touching. and all the simpering and dancing would have worked better if he was in a fox costume. or at least a pair of fox ears?

and what's with the reference to touching? what version do you have post? in mine there is no reference to touching. the video has the undertones of a training guide for pedophiles.

would any of you want your little boy or girl watching it?

    ReplyDelete
  16. i thought the book was okay, and didn't pick up on any pedophile overtones. also, my copy has pictures of a fox, not gene. ;)

what translation do you have ammy?

  17. The open pedophelia is in the film and the reason I know there is pedofile overtones in the book is because of the author's political beliefs and his associations.
He was a Freemason and a socialsit.
You'll have to do your homework from there.
He's not the only one though.
Almost all of the Disney films are full of subliminal sex.

Well there you have it folks. Freemason socialist = pedophile. It's so damn obvious now that you put it that way!

You must also be right about Disney films. My goodness, just look at your avatar? Maleficent loves to poke meddling prince’s with her horns. This in turn compels the prince to poke his sword right into Maleficent. She loves it when they stick their sword in. It kills her.

Very enlightening reviews there Ammy. Thank you dear.

  19. Deep Thoughts, by Spammy Ammy.

  20. I went on Google and looked it up, didn't have any pedofile conotations.
Was just creppy to see that scene all by its self.

  26. Zoe, no plenty of sociopaths are pedofiles. Maybe that's why everyone on this site is getting so pissed off about what I said.

    ReplyDelete
  27. I'm not pissed off at you, Ammy.
I pointed the book out to you in case you hadn't read it and didn't know anything about it other than the movie clip posted here.

  28. ammy, i suspect you're joking. but if not, it's your blanket statements that are pissing people off - or at least making them roll their eyes.

you know if you are right that plenty of sociopaths are pedophiles, then plenty of catholic priests must be sociopaths. now when i think about it, "twas the night before christmas" has obvious sociopathic undertones.. the way st. nick sneaks down people's chimneys, creeping about, and when caught, mesmerizing them with his twinkling eyes and jolly laugh. so creepy! it should be obvious to anyone who thinks about it that santa is a complete sociopath. so if santa is a sociopath, then wow no doubt santa was created by sociopaths. so many if not all of the priests must be sociopaths. we know many priests are pedophiles too, so therefore it's clear that plenty of sociopaths must be pedophiles. yikes.

  29. Other people's opinions don't make me angry. It's like I was saying to UKan a few weeks back. It's not the strangers I come in contact with that matter. I expect people, as a whole, to have varied opinions and behaviors. If someone is close to me, I care what they think and how they act, but still leave them room for their own opinions and outlook. The only thing that will ever ruffle my feathers, coming from another person, is if they physically attack me. I'm not threatened by how other people think and if a discussion is clearly one-sided, and it's apparent that there is no give and take going on, it doesn't entice me.

  30. "In the course of this life I have had a great many encounters with a great many people who have been concerned with matters of consequence."

This was the line in the book that made me know I was not wasting time reading this book. Thank you for the topic, I now know this book has something from which I can gain.

  31. There was a comedy T.V. show from the 1960's called
    "Car 54 Where Are You.?"
In the show's theme song, people are singing about deteriating
occurances in the city, and ask: "Car 54, where are you?"
I have a sense that all things are not right in M.E. land. "M. E.
    Thomas, where are you?"
People ARE interested in you, and your "plight," but one of the
drawbacks of being a naracist is that you neglect other areas of your
life. There's absolutely no reason why you can't have a "quality"
husband AND children IF that is your real desire. You've just got to
excrecate the limiting box you've placed yourself in. This may be your
trip to calvery, a time of intense self reflection. Very few would actually wish to see you fall. Once you emerge from this state, you
can then understand what love actually is.

  32. Moved to comment here for the first time because I too find models in 'The Little Prince'. The Hollywood film sounds like a travesty of the book by Antoine de Saint-Exupery, a popular choice for high school French curricula due to being helpfully illustrated, short, and (deceptively) simple. There are some beautiful readings from the book on YouTube in various languages. After over 30 years I was reminded of it again when a sudden shift in a relationship (with my socio[path lover) made me feel like the fox: I want you to tame me, but if you tame me, you will have a responsibility towards me! Like the Little Prince, needless to say he declined the responsibility and went off to another planet. In another relationship, I am the demanding, vain flower.
And hello, allow me to introduce myself as Lucy. I have been enjoying this blog for just the past few months. I am an empath in love/obsessed with a sociopath, and what I have learned from this blog has saved my sanity and my relationship.

    2. Thanks! I didn't know about psychopathfree blog so I'll have a look. I'm fascinated by the idea of the charismatic psychopath/sociopath, so I don't wish them ill at all. Envy them rather. But after several years I am trying to become 'sociopath free' and it is such a battle of wills.

  34. How To Stop A Divorce And Save Your Marriage?(Dr.Brave).

Hello to every one out here, am here to share the unexpected miracle that happened to me three days ago, My name is Jeffrey Dowling,i live in TEXAS,USA.and I`m happily married to a lovely and caring wife, with two kids A very big problem occurred in my family seven months ago, between me and my wife so terrible that she took the case to court for a divorce she said that she never wanted to stay with me again, and that she did not love me anymore So she packed out of my house and made me and my children passed through severe pain. I tried all my possible means to get her back, after much begging, but all to no avail and she confirmed it that she has made her decision, and she never wanted to see me again. So on one evening,as i was coming back from work,i met an old friend of mine who asked of my wife So i explained every thing to her,so she told me that the only way i can get my wife back,is to visit a spell caster, because it has really worked for her too So i never believed in spell, but i had no other choice, than to follow her advice. Then she gave me the email address of the spell caster whom she visited.(bravespellcaster@gmail.com}, So the next morning,i sent a mail to the address she gave to me,and the spell caster assured me that i will get my wife back the next day what an amazing statement!! I never believed,so he spoke with me,and told me everything that i need to do. Then the next morning, So surprisingly, my wife who did not call me for the past seven {7}months,gave me a call to inform me that she was coming back So Amazing!! So that was how she came back that same day, with lots of love and joy,and she apologized for her mistake, and for the pain she caused me and my children. Then from that day,our relationship was now stronger than how it were before,by the help of a spell caster . So, i will advice you out there to kindly email this wonderful man {bravespellcaster@gmail.com},i f you are in any condition like this,or you have any problem related to "bringing your ex back. So thanks to Dr Brave for bringing back my wife, and brought great joy to my family once again.{bravespellcaster@gmail.com}, Thanks..

  37. There is a faint element of child abuse considering hes a little Boy looking to play with older men and The snake (a common phallic symbol in Dreams and Stories) Mills him (or rather The narrators innocence).. Its small and mostly unnoticeable but overall a beauriful story.
