I still am quite confused but it does make sense if you have some schiotypal tendencies.

It is amazing that you are actively trying to control your impulses. As for sublimating and deviant sexuality, I recommend seeking out a loving, consensual relationship with someone who likes what you like. You could have your very own whipping boy/girl to verbally, emotionally and physically/sexually abuse and it would be ok because it would be consensual, and that's like a loophole in God's law. There are plenty of kinksters out there. Bdsm is the new black.

I still feel like if God really healed you of your sociopathy, you wouldnt have to fight or sublimate. I was brought up in an unstable household with a psychopathic father who actually managed to “tone down” his violent tendencies at home, and a very permissive mother who was loving, supportive and empathetic. Recently, I discovered that my childhood fit the classic pattern of sociopathic development. As an adult, I still have psychopathic traits, and I try to sublimate them.

As a young adult, I was a very manipulative, deceptive, angry person with a thrill-seeking complex and a penchant for violence I could not always control. Yet juxtaposed upon this base layer of poor impulse control and aggression, a very real thirst for metaphysical knowledge and existential meaning reared its head. So, as is fairly typical for me, I approached the matter intellectually, undertaking a comparative analysis of the world’s great religious traditions. It is during this period of existential questioning that my faith became “real” to me- but it wasn’t on account of my studies.

I had a personal encounter with Jesus Christ in a dream. He came to me, held me for a time, and then blew directly into my solar plexus. My body tingled from head to toe, and I experienced a sense of love and peace so profound that I find myself incapable of describing it adequately. He told me that my heart was blocked and that I was in danger of dying, but that I would be ok now. I woke up a changed person.

@ Sarah: I understand your confusion. I do not believe that I am a sociopath any longer, for God has promised those who love Him:

“I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit in you; I will remove from you your heart of stone and give you a heart of flesh.” - Ezekiel 36:26

Ultimately, I want to please God, and the Bible teaches me that I can only do this by loving Him and others. If I cannot FEEL love for certain people, to whom I know I ought to have a more profound emotional attachment, I can demonstrate it by my actions.

I admit that if I did not love God, I would naturally revert to being callous, insensitive, and cruel. I still lapse all the time, in minor, and occasionally major, ways. My *natural* inclination is not be empathic and kind; just getting through a day without hurting someone is difficult for me.

But I do love Him, and I have felt the outpouring of His great love for me. I have witnessed it in concrete ways that have fully convinced me of His existence and work in my life. This is entirely subjective and personal. I do not expect my experiences to convince anyone else; I really don’t care what others think of my beliefs.

I have experienced a love for others that is based purely upon God's love for me, and it is beautiful. HE is beautiful. So I want Him to shed His light even here… in this very dark part of me.

So no, I do not think I am a sociopath any longer, in the way I have seen it described by some of the regulars here, although much of what M.E relates in his blog resonates profoundly with me, for I recognize myself in it.

Daily seeking to apply the teachings of Jesus Christ over a period of ten years really *changes* you as a person. Still, I remain a work in progress. In particular, I have struggles in areas that appear related to sociopathy in general: bad temper, poor impulse control, weak affect, blunted empathy, shallow remorse, intolerance for boredom, deviant sexuality, predilection for violence, etc. I don’t WANT to be evil, but the truth is, in some ways, I remain hedonistic and attracted to what is dark and perverse. I can silence my conscience at will. I can numb my emotions, and I am *always* tempted to do so.

I cannot talk about the seriously deviant nature of some of my struggles with my fellow Christians. They truly would not understand. Thankfully, I don’t need that kind of intimacy. Somehow, reading this blog helps me to understand and accept this part of myself.Alteregonoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-628748600098131100.post-85108416668354901312011-12-28T23:20:36.317-08:002011-12-28T23:20:36.317-08:00If you manage to beat a sociopath up (sucker punch...If you manage to beat a sociopath up (sucker punch) then he will hunt you down and cave your face in as you sleep. If you think that teenagers ...Sense of Entitlement. If you think that teenagers believe the world owes them a living, introduce yourself to a psychopath. “What‟s mine is mine and what‟s yours should be mine” sums up their sense of entitlement. The male psychopath sees a woman in relationship as “my woman” and often uses her as he would any other property. The psychopath may stalk and murder his “property,” feeling justified because she didn‟t comply with his demands.

Competitive. Psychopaths see themselves as superior to others, and their stance during negotiations or an interview may be condescending or competitive (e.g., “I can take you”). They may also experience delight and satisfaction in being able to play the investigator. The result may be that the investigator‟s competitive spirit and desire to win an attempt to play the same game, with potentially negative consequences for the investigation. It is important to have a second negotiator or interviewer who can observe and influence what is happening.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-628748600098131100.post-86499600899635087022011-12-28T21:17:12.534-08:002011-12-28T21:17:12.534-08:00Underestimates Problems. They also do not want to take on responsibility for their actions and deny that any real problems exist. The investigator gets a “foot in the door” by minimizing the problem or the extent of the damage or injury caused by the psychopath. This may facilitate disclosure by the suspect of at least some of the details of the offence.

No Loyalty. One of the things that differentiates the antisocial personality disordered (APD) individual from the psychopath is that the former can and often does have loyalty to a gang or deviant peer group. Psychopaths may fervently profess to having intense and everlasting loyalty to a group or code, when it becomes a choice between this loyalty and their own self-interest, there is no contest. For this reason psychopaths often make great informants. Caution must be exercised, however, as the psychopath‟s charm and manipulation can turn a rookie cop or an unsuspecting veteran inside out, with the result that he “works” the investigator. Another caution is to negotiators in the use by psychopaths of third party intermediaries. Having no true loyalty to another person, they may wish to speak to or for the intermediary for an ulterior motive.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-628748600098131100.post-78254926294199760402011-12-28T21:14:49.954-08:002011-12-28T21:14:49.954-08:00Ego Dominant. Psychopaths have a grossly inflated ...Ego Dominant. Psychopaths have a grossly inflated sense of self and are often opinionated and cocky in their presentation. They are quick to extol their attributes and accomplishments. The interviewer/negotiator strokes the ego in an effort to build rapport and bridge the communication gap.

Grandiose. The need to feel respected by someone who is respected allows the arresting officers or the undercover team to build up the interviewer as “the top dog” or “the boss”. This can set up a desire for the psychopath to want to relate to that individual.

Manipulative. One of the keys to understanding psychopaths is understanding that it‟s all about them. Their need to gratify themselves their lack of empathy is a brutal combination. They use insincere charm and manipulation to get what they want. If that doesn‟t work they will other tactics in their behavioral repertoire, including intimidation and violence.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-628748600098131100.post-34798220566017786802011-12-28T21:01:53.581-08:002011-12-28T21:01:53.581-08:00Sadistic pd is a very common co-morbidity in psych...Sadistic pd is a very common co-morbidity in psychopaths.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-628748600098131100.post-4885611861895687482011-12-28T21:00:01.299-08:002011-12-28T21:00:01.299-08:00Sadistic personality disorder is:
