Famous (?) sociopaths: David Wood

A reader sent this to me, and for the first couple of minutes I had no idea why and thought it was going to be a discussion of religion, and part of me wanted to give you this video without telling you where it's going so you could have the same experience of being surprised when this guy just starts talking about what it's like to grow up with mental health problems that largely remained undiagnosed. He talks about being diagnosed as ASPD and launching in this discussion of feeling like he was socialized/brainwashed about morality, so begins to just start doing wrong things all of the time as a reaction to it. And of course, after the first 8-10 minutes or so, it does get into religion topics, mainly criticizing Islam and radical Muslims. But the first part I think some people might relate to, not realizing that your brain is wired differently, and so just acting as if what you're doing is normal and right and obvious.

I wonder if he still identifies with being ASPD, because then another example of a religious sociopath. I wonder how his Christian followers feel about that?

  2. M.E.-

On your "Realness" post on 6/30, Jonaid inlcuded a link to an interview with David Wood on CBN. Superchick also included a link, with David Wood, in a debate with a Muslim. DAVID WOOD "ROCKED" HIS OPPONENT, in my opinion!!! I thought I'd let you know, in case you missed that, and wanted to check it out.:) I'm short on time at the moment, but I LOVE THIS POST, and hope to comment more later...

    1. I just came across this C.S. Lewis quote, and thought I'd share it:

"I have found a desire within myself that no experience in this world can satisfy; the most probable explanation is that I was made for another world."

    3. Lyrics

      And with the early dawn
      Moving right along
I couldn't buy and eyeful of sleep
And in the aching night under satellites
      I was not received
      Built with stolen parts
      A telephone in my heart
      Someone get me a priest
To put my mind to bed
      This ringing in my head
Is this a cure or is this a disease

      Nail in my hand
      From my creator
      You gave me life
Now show me how to live

      Nail in my hand
      From my creator
      You gave me life
Now show me how to live

      And in the after birth
      On the quiet earth
      Let the stains remind you
You thought you made a man
      You better think again
      Before my role defines you

      Nail in my hand
      From my creator
      You gave me life
Now show me how to live

      Nail in my hand
      From my creator
      You gave me life
Now show me how to live

      And in your waiting hands
      I will land
And roll out of my skin
And in your final hours I will stand
      Ready to begin

      Nail in my hand
      From my creator
      You gave me life
Now show me how to live

      Nail in my hand
      From my creator
      You gave me life
Now show me how to live

      Show me how to live

  3. I really like the C.S. Lewis quote above. I feel exactly as he did.

    About the video:

Firstly, and I could be wrong, but I don't think David Wood is a psychopath as I defined it. He certainly had & has sociopathic traits and may be diagnosed as ASPD but I don't think he, deep down, intends to do harm. As I said in a previous post I think he can't understand Islam in light of his Christian world view and, coupled with his sociopathic tendencies, he's forced to shun it as the work of a psychopath & the devil. He probably really believes that he's helping Muslims and exposing the lies & BS. Unfortunately, he's not always wrong: I've seen him debate a Muslim and I agreed with him at times against the other guy. I think many people who are religious forget the original purpose of their faith (God) and turn it into a tribe. That's where all the US vs YOU comes in. The tribe becomes the first priority, not the Truth or God.

I'm not so sure about the host though. He's annoying, and is clearly a liar. His ancestors have lived for nearly 1400 years alongside Muslims peacefully UNDER ISLAMIC rule & Lebanon was, until recently, a Christian majority land. Yet he feels the urge to blame to Islam for intolerance & antisemitism (as opposed to who, Christian Europe? the hypocrisy...). Historical facts: Judaism did not enjoy a golden age after losing the old kingdoms until the age of Islamic rule in Spain. Jews prospered in Muslim lands, often fled persecution in Europe by heading to Muslim countries (including in 1492 following the inquisition) but never mind that, some angry protests over Israel mean Islam is looking for Jewish blood.

People will argue this stuff for as long as people exist. I can't deny God's existence now, no matter what happens in the world but I still had trouble believing in religion(s) when I came around. Why so many religions and all the fighting? It all makes sense to me now and the Qur'an makes complete sense of it. The problem comes when you start assuming that all religious people should therefore be perfect.

It can be tempting to get into these debates but in the end I've realized that it won't really help. My side will cheer me on and the other side will cheer their side on. Others will either get more confused or lose the essential messages of both traditions and say the hell with all of it. The only real way to remain on the straight path is by asking God for assistance directly and remaining truthful & humble. In the end, everything is under His control. It's not my job to correct everyone's misunderstandings - our job is only to be as good as possible, to BE living models. Words are easy; actions are tough.

    1. Jonaid you make some real valid points. David does also. I do really appreciate and respect both of your outlooks. Reminds me of the verse
" love they neighbour" and in doing so you fulfilled the first commandment in loving God. Simplicity but hard for many. You Jonaid reminded me of something: The main focal point shouldn't be about who's book is better and who's book is wrong.

      So thank you.

I personally think the main focal point should be in exposing the overly zealous radicals who do such harm and succumb to hate crimes on either side. This is probably why it's easier for people being an atheist or agnostic. Respecting all of humanity and trying to lead an honoured life without any book dictating to anyone. I see all sides to the coin. I probably lean more in the category of an agnostic-theist myself. I can see how the natural mind contradicts the spiritual mind. Visa-versa. Can they both work together. I believe it's very possible if we respect both.

If we took out the legalistic views of both books we'd be left with peace and respect to one-another and most importantly to ourselves. But the human mind can tend to gravitate from one extreme to the other. We gravitate on being overly zealous and wanting to prove how " we are right ones" and you all are the wrongs ones.

    2. Every well-meaning person makes valid points. The problem is we don't understand the bigger picture. When times get tough & apparent disagreements get big enough, people get less empathetic and more argumentative. Think about it this way:

The vast, vast, vast majority of all peoples, regardless of religion (or lack thereof), race, gender, sexual orientation etc etc all agree on almost everything. They all want to live peaceful, happy, comfortable, fair, & free lives. Yet we see so many differences on the outside. Deep inside most people are near identical. When do you get situations like this, with so many arguing & fighting despite wanting the same thing in the end. You get that when a very small faction of both parties does NOT want the same thing & actually wants the opposite. These real psychos have no ethical boundaries: they can come across as the more caring & thoughtful people but they mean the opposite. It's these people that confuse, mislead & rile up their sides against the other and force the other to rile up against theirs by their incendiary speech.

I disagree with David & the host: things will seemingly get worse in time, yes. There will likely be more violence & hate-mongering - but just when it looks like there's no turning back; just when we've completely alienated the other & turned them all into enemies; just then God will reveal who the real enemy is on both sides. When people realize the truth, their will be unity like never before & the real troublemakers will not find any place of refuge.

  6. I can't understand the people who are believing in any god. There is nothing like a god, it's a pure human invention. I think most people can't bear the reality, that humans actually are irrelevant and our existence is only based on coincidences. And probably they need something to explain all the mysterious things, the science is not able to explain currently. But there is definitely a logical explanation, we just didn't find it. Well of course I'm not sure because there is no evidence, but usually I'm not wrong either. So sooner or later the riddles of the universe will be solved and we will see if there is room for god. Or more likely, we will be dead by then. Anyway, I wish everyone a nice day.

    1. It's a fucking invisible being. Explains nothing. There is no explanation, so one is made up, and it's invisible. It shows humans are smart, but still fucking animals running on auto-pilot on instinctual drives. We don't know the answer, so our minds fill it in with SOMETHING. Fuckfaces like this delusional fuck just exemplify why humanity is fucked, just enough raw brainpower to be dangerous, but not enough intelligence to see how stupid he is, like so many. He admitted himself how he was so susceptible to brainwashing that he implied a Muslim could have made him do something dangerous. Not someone I want near me.

Would be nice to have him tethered to a few Muslim fucks as well, and they can all go bouncy-bouncy down the side of a rock-face as they prey to Jesus and chant Allah-akbar, but ridding ourselves of at least this shit-fuck would still be nice.

  13. David Wood is a major troll - he delights in causing people the discomfort associated with cognitive dissonance. It isn't surprising that he fit the ASPD bill - most trolls do. And Wood is a major troll - he is fearless.

E.g. he'll talk to (modern) Muslims about Mohammed fucking a little girl - Aisha - and how if you are a Muslim, you believe that is a good thing - because Mohammed did it, and he lived a morally exemplar life. And if you don't believe that - you are a bad Muslim - because you are disagreeing with Mohammed.

That is the sort of stuff that a sadistic legalistic sort would do - take pleasure in saying things that lead to people being uncomfortable, as I just did by talking about what Wood has done.

The interesting thing for M.E. is that he seems to be a believing Christian, despite being a psychopath. A lot of psychopaths wind up being agnostics. And he seems to take pride in his intelligence, ability to argue, etc. -- so you've got some self-deception/narcissism (as he obviously didn't make his own mind - he won the genetic lottery).
