Needing things to go a particular way (part 1)

The reader's response:

I agree that it would be magical thinking to say that you can think your way out of any emotion at any given time. But if you're already familiar with how the undesirable emotion is resulting from your processing of the situation through a lens of beliefs, you can attempt to eliminate the feeling if you can identify the belief underneath.

Think; if a neurotypical sees the world through a lens of "There is no right and wrong, or good and evil, those are man made concepts that do not exist in nature, and they are a means of control. Rights don't exist either, they are imaginary, we made them up. Emotions are, simply put, biological functions that helped the survival of a stage of our species but at this point are obsolete and nothing but harmful, even though at times they (especially the mammal/herd animal instincts like shame) come with a sense of 'meaning'. The duration of your life is the only time you will enjoy rewards and suffer consequences, your conscious experience will not exist after you die."
How can you expect this total non-sociopath to feel guilt/remorse/shame, or fear in his deathbed after a life of 'wrongdoings'?

"There is no greater purpose to this existence, it is futile, it is at best a form of entertainment and I don't mind tapping out if I get bored" would be another one to make it all seem meaningless, thus making any moral judgement irrelevant and unimportant, and the lives' of oneself and others unattached to some sort of sacred value.
Don't you think just remembering this one would make one a let less of a neurotic in general?

BUT (I think I'm speaking for non-socios here, I might be wrong):

Let's say, before the person had those said beliefs, since early childhood he/she were raised to believe in something vastly different than that, like most people are. When he does something that makes sense to him but goes against a certain norm, he has to think his way out of, let's say, shame.
Especially if people react. A number of them, at the same time. Yikes.
Because he's hardwired with the instinct of shame, and shame was already previously programmed to fire at types of situations like this, he will probably feel shame while knowing/thinking that it's irrational.

But you can't just stop feeling something just because you know it doesn't make sense, that would be too good to be true. Of course the feeling isn't rational, it's a fucking feeling. Still, After recognizing the feeling and wanting to get rid of it, there will still be some thinking work to do to eliminate it in my experience, that's my point.

For me it was a challenge to identify beliefs on most of my past issues (social anxiety, OCD, 2 nonsense phobias) as they were easy to recognize as irrational even to the person who has them, and no part of it I could connect to anything. But at this point I can confidently say that at this point I can easily eliminate mild anxiety, shame and mostly anger (The ego-hurt at least. you know how when the bus driver acts entitled and disrespectful to you, and you just have to find a way to not punch him in the throat and insert your thumbs into his eyes because at that moment it looks like a very reasonable risk to take?) .

Still, fear is different I think, it's more deeply rooted than anything else. It's probably the first emotion that ever came to exist and I don't think one can think its way out of fear as a feeling, but maybe with sufficient recent exposure to fear-evoking situations or an exceptionally trained prefrontal cortex it could be fought. As long as fear is not sabotaging one's decision or performance, I think it's fine to feel it somewhere in the background.

Am I depressed? I think it's my own cognitive bias that I don't think about my mood when i'm in a good mood, but I'm recently realizing that I tend to live 4-5 days beautifully and 4-5 days terribly. Not that I'm bipolar or anything, I just have a great relationship with drugs and a less faithful one with sleep. Being in the zone so hard that refusing to sleep and failing to take a break and just functioning for hours more, and then having a sleep deprived crash landing for 12 hours in the afternoon does not sound like consistent depression to me.

I loved your last paragraph, that's a belief I haven't even questioned, or regarded as a belief till now.
And yes, you can publish it.

(Also, you didn't miss sarcasm, Bill wasn't being sarcastic, it's just that Bill is a normal dude with a temper, and when he calls himself a psycho he mostly means 'psychotic'.
Irrelevant: I got stung by an exotic insect while writing that last sentence.)

    1. Yes. My family members are, in fact, "hard Catholic Christians", and take their faith religiously and seriously, oftentimes to the point of ridiculousness - in my opinion, they take it all "too literally and rigidly", often ignoring the "spirit of the message".

      P. S.
I wonder why Jinnaid never bothered to mention that muslims are permitted (and even encouraged) to lie and act contrary to their faith, lie about their beliefs, even renounce and change them, whenever they "feel it's justified", and not suffer any "ill will" in the eyes of their God and fellow muslims?

    11. I'm pretty sure he's quite busy consulting his all-knowing book for another "a-ha!" quote.

I think his next answer to your questions about terrorist groups will be something akin to "those are not real muslims", as any "legitimate critiques" (which he perceives as "attacks") on his faith are one of the "justified situations" :-)

I'm interested to hear, what is "justified", about terrorism...

      ~Vegas

    13. This is my take on the issue of terrorism:

For terrorists, publicity, terror and chaos is "victory" - they do not care about territory and "normal objectives", but what they care about is the spreading of their ideas; by distrupting the leadership and "normal lives" of countrie(s) through memorable emotionally charged attack(s), they can get a lot of exposure, and the terror will paralyze individuals who hear of the attacks and constantly make them think about the terrorists, and their next attack.
The harder the "counterattack" and "countermeasures" (as was with America's "expedition" in the Middle East and it's increasing security at the cost of personal freedom), the more the terrorists "win" (as it makes their targets look "weak" and "incompetent", unable to provide security), as their ideas get wider exposure and become more known, and the more recruits they could gather; the greater the limits of personal freedoms and longer and more expensive the "counterattack", the greater the dissatisfaction, as now individuals could start thinking that the terrorists were perhaps "right".

Since terrorists have extremely limited resources but great mobility, they need to make their attacks count, as they cannot do much of them due to their limited resources and manpower. They do excel at hiding and slipping away, and the more visible, longer and expensive the attempts to catch and "punish" them, the more it plays into their strengths and makes the persecutor look bad and damages his reputation - it is as if someone breaks everything in his house trying to kill a single fly just because that fly landed on his expensive food, even if you kill it it won't look good in the eyes of those who saw and heard of his reaction.

The terrorist attacks gave muslims exposure and the chance to, over time, "prove their innocence" by claiming it was "just a few extemists" and denouncing them (while simultaneously acting "peacefully" and lying about their faith, just as Jinnaid does). If everyone sees how "misunderstood and persecuted" the muslims are, and enough time passes, then they could gain sympathy, draw away suspicion and even gain potential new converts.

    17. Truth be told, I have read it a few times, but it was a long time ago, when I was a kid; my favourite parts were from the Old Testament (especially the battles), which I found more interesting and "fun" than the New Testament. I remember the breaching of the walls of Jericho as being my favourite.

My "Bible knowledge" is rusty and limited though, due to the passage of time, but from what I vaguely remember, and the excerpts I read, I think it contains a lot of valuable lessons about human nature.

In any case, the Bible is more A's "territory" than mine :-)

      Let's try some easy interpretation;
Whoever denies the will of the Allah is an infidel and a possible threat (ie. someone not a muslim), therefore, muslims are at a religious war with non-muslims, and lying there is permitted.

  4. I had a really good session with my mental health therapist today. She's had some time to consider things and better understand psychopathy, so she had some things she wanted to address with me and we had a very productive discussion. She seems to think that special emphasis is needed on developing better cost-benefit analysis.

We watched a couple of your interviews, M.E.. The Huffington Post Live one and that one you spoke with your face blurred? I also have your talk with the Brain Broad downloaded on my phone, and she wants to listen to it in our next session.

I also told her about my public-ness of my personality disorder; for the most part I've gotten a very positive reaction. The homeless youth very much respect me, and the organization I work with accepts me for what I am. A woman who works with the organization and is the boss of my case manager (who is working with me to make sure I'm on track with getting off the streets and etc..) seems to think I'm very brave coming out as a psychopath and spreading mental health awareness. Something they're working on with me is getting me onto a panel of speakers to talk about mental health awareness, the homeless youth epidemic and consequently the mental health crisis within the homeless youth community.

I did all I could to rectify this problem but all to no avail. I became very worried and needed help. As I was browsing through the internet one day, I came across a website that suggested that Dr Unity can help solve marital problems, restore broken relationships and so on. So, I felt I should give him a try. I contacted him and he did a spell for me. Three days later, my husband came to me and apologized for the wrongs he did and promise never to do it again. Ever since then, everything has returned back to normal. I and my family are living together happily again.. All thanks to Dr Unity . If you need a spell caster that can cast a spell that truly works fast, I suggest you contact Dr Unity. He will not disappoint you. mail him at: Unityspelltemple@gmail.com or contact him through his mobile number number : +2348072370762.

  10. My life became devastated when my husband sent me packing, after 8 years that we have been together. I was lost and helpless after trying so many ways to make my husband take me back. One day at work, i was absent minded not knowing that my boss was calling me, so he sat and asked me what its was all about i told him and he smiled and said that it was not a problem. I never understand what he meant by it wasn't a problem getting my husband back, he said he used a spell to get his wife back when she left him for another man and now they are together till date and at first i was shocked hearing such thing from my boss. He gave me an email address of the great spell caster who helped him get his wife back, i never believed this would work but i had no choice that to get in contact with the spell caster which i did, and he requested for my information and that of my husband to enable him cast the spell and i sent him the details, but after two days, my mom called me that my husband came pleading that he wants me back, i never believed it because it was just like a dream and i had to rush down to my mothers place and to my greatest surprise, my husband was kneeling before me pleading for forgiveness that he wants me and the kid back home, then i gave Happy a call regarding sudden change of my husband and he made it clear to me that my husband will love me till the end of the world, that he will never leave my sight. Now me and my husband is back together again and has started doing pleasant things he hasn't done before, he makes me happy and do what he is suppose to do as a man without nagging. Please if you need help of any kind, kindly contact Happy for help and you can reach him via email: happylovespell2@gmail.com
